At the end of the course, students should be able to

1. Prepare taking off for various types of building trades (C3, PLO1)
2. Practice estimation and costing work for construction resources (P3, PLO2)
3. Assist in Gantt chart preparation for construction work scheduling (A2, PLO5)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module is designed as an introduction for students about civil and structure drawings interpretation, progress charts, schedule to
order materials and estimate costs, the estimation of costs for man-days and machinery needed. They will learn how to calculate
and estimate costs for civil engineering work in terms of materials, labour and machinery. They will use all the necessary drawings,
charts and forms so that the work can be proceeded according to the specifications. Positive attitude during work is also stressed in
these lessons such as consideration of suitable quantity in order to reduce wastage of energy, time and costs as well as cooperation
between personals. Students will be exposed to the instructions and procedures of the work that suit the current industrial needs.
