Subject: Washington State should not serve the needs of the military before its citizens
Date: Saturday, July 29, 2017 12:44:30 PM

A review of the draft plan raises several serious concerns for me as resident of a
community deeply affected by the presence of the military in Washington State. Overall,
my concerns include: lack of opportunities for citizens living near military operations to
participate or be represented in the decision making process effecting their communities;
and the wholesale prioritization of the military as an economic engine. I do not want to live
in a militarized nation or a state dominated by the military, but the Washington state
proposal leads to just that. I in no way support the prioritization of the needs of the military
over citizens wellbeing, the environment, and economic development focused on
entrepreneurism. I think this effort is ill conceived.

Military spending is an inefficient way to create jobs. We would be better served in WA to

develop guidelines to support sustainable local businesses, small businesses, and those
that do not bring noise, toxics, and dictatorial guidelines to our communities. I hope you will
address these concerns by withdrawing your proposal to make communiti4es in WA more
friendly to military expansion.
With concern,
Valerie Reuther
