Observations: During my inspection of the office, I have tried to observe all important
aspects of the services provided by my office, all ins and outs, all weak and strong points
of the systems of the service delivery. Some important observations are described as
follows.
2. Treatment: Treatment of animals and poultry are provided everyday at Hospital and
at farmers house, farm.
all the cows of this Upazila are not inseminated artificially with frozen or liquid
semen. Farmers often go for Natural Service of their cows due to lack of
awareness.
5. Micro-credit: Micro-credits had been provided to the poor farmer of this area
from Upazila Livestock office under various categories like Goat rearing loan,
Sheep rearing loan, Poverty reduction through self-employment loan Phase-1 and
Phase-2. For last few years no new loans were provided due to lack of fund.
Overall Ways and means to reduce the gap and improve the work culture
1. Increase number of staff: Population of Livestock and poultry is increasing day by day. So
recruitment of veterinarian in union level is a must need. Vacant post should be filled up as much as
possible to ensure veterinary health.
2. Modern diagnostic facilities: Establishment of diagnostic lab in Upazila Livestock Office will
make diagnosis more confirmatory. Separate operation room should be established for surgical
operation.
3. Increase medicine supply: Medicine should be supplied on the basis of livestock population. Extra
medicine should be supplied during crisis period.
4. Increase training facilities: Training is necessary for every person to make their respective work
more effective. So training program should be arranged on regular basis for both doctors and
supporting staffs.
5. Modern record keeping: Proper training should be given to head of the office and office assistant
on record keeping.
6. Artificial insemination: There are few private companies who operate Articial Insemination in
Barura. They should work in communication with Upazila Livestock Office to avoid repeated
insemination.
7. Increase transport facility:Transport facility for Upazilla Livestock Officer and veterinary surgeon
should increase
8. Increase surgical facility: Providing modern surgical room and sufficient amount of surgical
instrument

Conclusion:
The main function of Upazila Livestock office is to provide safe animal protein for consumption of
man .Reduction mortality rate by giving proper treatment to the diseased animals and poultry. We
have found some shortage of diagnosis facilities and also shortage of staffs. It greatly hampers its main
function. But if government minimizes this problem, Upazila Livestock Office, Khaliajury will be the
model for Livestock and poultry disease diagnosis and treatment.
