Soundandimage:Thedialoguesareonscreen,therestofthesoundsoffscreen,asifthere

were a separation between words and natural sounds. The characters pay a lot of

attention to the offscreen sounds. There is a large use of silence, in shots perhaps

recordedsilent,butthatcreateasurfaceoftensiontobesuddenlybrokenwithascary
sound.Onthecontrarythebeginningofadialogueisannouncedbytheframingandthe

gesturesofthecharacters,predisposingtospeak.
