4 September
(247th day of the year 2017)
Blessings, blessings and blessings on all that you do, all that you have and all that your hands touch!
A Happy Labor Day to all.
Did you know? Labor Day, observed the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor
movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes
a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-
being of our country.
This summer has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Kids are back in school and the Fall weather
(at least for some) is starting to rear its head.
As I read the story in todays (4 September 2017) Our Daily Bread, I was moved while reading
these words, Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always (1 Chron. 16:11). This advice
was part of a psalm celebrating the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. It recounts Gods
faithfulness to His people in their struggles throughout history, reminding them to always praise Him
and cry out to Him (v. 35).
What does it mean to seek [Gods] face? It means we turn our hearts toward Him in even the most
mundane moments. Sometimes our prayers are answered differently than our asking, but God is faithful
come what may. Our Good Shepherd will direct our paths and keeps us in His mercy, strength, and love.
May we declare our dependence on Him.
There are blessings waiting just around the corner for each of us, every minute of every day; that is,
if we would only take the time to slow down and observe what the Lord is doing. Or did you forget what
Jeremiah would write in the Book of Lamentations Chapter 3, Verses 22 and 23? . . . Because His
[tender] compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great and beyond measure is Your
faithfulness. (Amplified Bible)
Please keep those affected by Hurricane Harvey in South Texas in your prayers. Being from Texas,
it breaks my heart seeing videos of cities that I ran and played in as a youngster ravaged by flood waters.
Many of the people have lost everything, and with no flood insurance, the road back will be a difficult
one. However, dont ever count anyone out; your prayers will help and encourage them as they try to get
their life back in order.
We also covet your continued prayers. Later this month we will be leaving Italy and heading back
to the US for a brief respite. After that, its onward to the Philippines.
Well do our best to see as many of you as we can, but for now our focus is our kids and grandkids.
Well do our best to keep you posted as to the where and when of our journey, but please
forgive me in advance if time slips away and I forget to follow through on this. Just chalk it up to a
senior moment when and if it occurs.
Continued blessings, continued rejoicing, continued success and continued expectancy of the return
of our soon and coming King!
