China Energy
& Oil Trade Future
%
China will use more natural gas, hydroelectricity and
other reproducible energies, reduce the dependence on
coal and maintain the oil percentage.

Forecast: 450 million tons of oil consumption in 2020, 250

million tons of oil be imported.

More crude oil will be imported from Former Soviet Union

by pipeline.

18

9
China-Kazakhstan oil
pipeline project
%
Construction was completed on Nov.14, 2005, and put into
production on Dec. 15, 2005.

Links Atasu in Kazakhstan to Dushanzi, China's first major

land oil import route.

Capacity: 10 million tons of crude oil/year to China after

phrase I; 20 million tons of crude oil/year to China after
phrase II.

In May, 2006, Kazakhstans crude oil will get to the China

oil refinery after traveling by the 3,000-kilometer pipeline.

19

China-Russia oil
pipeline project
%
In April, 2005, Russia finally decided the far-east oil
pipeline project to Daqing not Japan.

Construction began late last year, phase I capacity 30

million tons/year,Siberian city of Taishet to Skovorodino.

Of which, two-thirds to Daqing by pipeline, while the

remaining 10 million tons would be shipped by rail to a
new port to be built on the Pacific coast near Nakhodka.

20

10
China-Russia oil
pipeline project
%
The project is expected to be completed around 2008.

The pipeline's capacity will be expanded to 50 million

metric tons a year, or roughly 1.2 million barrels per day in
the future.

China will gain abt 30 million metric tons of crude oil

through the pipeline from Kazakhstan and Russia in 2010,
and 50 million metric tons in 2020.

Market Outlook

WS- a very close correlation with OPEC crude supply and

VLCC fleet tonnage growth rate.

OPEC crude supply rised from 28.6 mbpd in 2004 to 29.2

mbpd in 2005, and 29.6 mbpd in January, 2006; 29.8 mbpd
in February. OPEC crude supply will maintain above 29
mbpd in 2006 to stabilize oil price.

The tonnage of VLCC fleet is expected to increase 2.6%

this year, 3.3% in 2005.

2006, good year for tanker, WS on Gulf-East VLCC will be

above 100.

26

13
Conclusion

Chinas efforts: to explore such new energies as

hydroelectricity and wind power, solar energy; control the
growth of such fossil energies consumption as coal, oil.

To secure the oil supply from abroad, China will diversify

the oil import sources, and the shipment of pipeline will
take more share of China oil import.

The outlook of VLCC rate in 2006 is optimistic.
