Purpose Of This Assignment

The aim of this process is to enable actors to develop and practice the acting skills
necessary to act for camera, technical skills necessary to co-ordinate and execute the
duties of a production crew and to gain an understanding of the nature of site-specific
performance from a theoretical perspective and as a performance practice.
Scenario
Penn and Goldman Production Company are looking for a fresh new company to perform
and produce short films for the Crank Film Festival. Before they put the final team
together they want to hold a six week workshop experimenting and working with Actors,
Directors, First Assistant Directors, Continuity Supervisors, Boom Operators, D.O.Ps,
Runners and Camera Operators. You will rehearse and perform material for camera in
appropriate locations that suit the nature of the scene. At the end of the six week
workshop, you will participate in a practical and academic test as well as being assessed
on your practical ability. Those of you working at the highest level will be invited to form a
film company producing a series of short films. Good luck!
