Epidemiologic shift- while the country is still contending with the devastation brought about by
communicable diseases it is also at the same time contending with the devastation brought about by non-
communicable chronic lifestyle disease.

EVOLUTION OF PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING IN THE PHILIPPINES

HEALTH according to DOH- State of complete physical, mental and social well being not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity.

PUBLIC HEALTH by C.E Winslow- science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, promoting health
and efficiency through organized community effort for the sanitation of the environment,control of
communicable disease
