AustEx Rod Presenter INTRODUCTION
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Using This Manual
This manual will assist you to properly operate your AustEx Rod Presenter. The information
contained within this manual covers technical data and procedures recommended by the
manufacturer.
1.2 Operation of the Rod Presenter
The manufacturer, in the interest of safety and proper operating procedures, recommends
that any personnel engaged in operating or working around the Rod Presenter are
appropriately trained.
1.3 Modifications
No structural or performance modifications, additions, changes and non-recommended
operating or maintenance procedures can be carried out to the Rod Presenter without the
prior written approval of the manufacturer.
1.4 Design
The Rod Presenter has been designed to handle diamond drill rods. Operation of the Rod
Presenter beyond or outside the intended design purpose is not recommended without the
prior written approval of the manufacturer and may void warranty.
1.5 Seeking Assistance
Every attempt has been made to ensure that the Operators Manual is readable and
complete. However, it is possible that in the particular case of this manual, some
eventualities may not have been foreseen.
If we are to continue to provide the drilling industry with a product that meets their
expectation, we need to be kept informed of issues that need addressing.
We look forward to a fruitful and long relationship with you and encourage you to keep us
informed of the Rod Presenter performance and naturally any problems.
In the event that the given instructions in this manual are:
Difficult to understand;
Easily misinterpreted;

AustEx Rod Presenter GENERAL DESCRIPTION
2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The AustEx Rod Presenter is mounted on a Sandvik DE880 or DE840 drill rig. It is
specifically designed to be used simultaneously with the rigs haul winch to transfer
diamond drill rods in and out of the mast.
The Presenter eliminates the need for an offsider to hold onto the drill rod when
moving it with the haul winch.

4. PRE-OPERATION INSPECTION
Failure to carry out this basic pre-operation checklist could lead to death or
personnel injury.
Do not attempt to operate this piece of equipment until you have been trained in
every function and fully understand the operators manual.
The pre-operation inspection is a series of checks, which must be carried out daily at the start of
each work shift, or when the rig has been shifted to another drill site.
Each check will ensure the Presenter is prepared properly for normal operation. The pre operation
inspection is concerned with the AustEx rod presenter only.

SET-UP AustEx Rod Presenter
5. ROD PRESENTER - SET UP
The presenter need to be adjusted at the start of every hole so that it correctly aligns itself with
the mast angle and rod trestle location. Once the initial setup is complete then the settings should
not need to be altered until the rig is moved to another hole.
Once the correct length is achieved ensure both locking bolts are re-installed prior to use.
If the Presenter is out of line with the rod trestles when rotated out then Breakout / AustEx Rod
Presenter Selector needs to be pushed left to Rod Presenter and the Angle Adjustment / Roller
Centraliser needs to be pushed right to Angle adjustment. The operator should then use the
breakout lever in the control cabinet to adjust the Presenter so that its in line with the rod
trestles.
Once the above alignment is achieved the hauling plug will need to be screwed in to a rod and the
rod loaded into the mast just above the rod spinner. If the alignment with rod spinner is out left to
right then the Angle Adjustment / Roller Centraliser Selector needs to be pushed left to roller
centraliser. The operator should then use the breakout lever in the control cabinet to adjust the
Presenter so that the bottom of the drill rod lines up over the rod spinner.
Once the above alignments are correct then the Breakout / AustEx Rod Presenter Selector needs
to be pushed right to Breakout so that the breakout lever in the control cabinet returns to its
normal operation.

AustEx Rod Presenter SET-UP
When setting up the stop points for the first time the operator will need to select SET POSITION
from the home page on the HMI display in the drillers panel. Once selected two options will
appear SET LOAD and SET UNLOAD. Within both of these options there are four stop points
which are set by rotating the presenter to the desired stop positions and pressing the key pad
button below the green tick for each stop point. If a stop point is saved successfully then it will be
highlighted green. Below is a description of each stop point and where they should be set.
"MAST PSN"
Stops the Presenter just above the plug slide and allows the hauling plug to pass by when lowering
the rod string down the hole. When the "MAST PSN" stop point is reached the operator cannot
rotate the presenter any further past the stop point.
"LOAD PSN"
Stops the Rod Presenter rotating away from the mast in the correct position for the hauling plug to
be spun into a new rod. When the "LOAD PSN" stop point is reached the operator cannot rotate
the Presenter any further past the stop point.
"UNLOAD PSN"
Also stops the Rod Presenter rotating away from the mast but ensures the rod is pulled all the way
to the backboard and thus ensuring the hauling plug is in the correct position to be spun out of the
rod.
