The body only needs the recommended amounts of food because if you have an
unbalanced diet your body will not be able to maintain homeostasis. If your diet was a
majority of lipids and a little bit of protein, your body would end up lacking the needed
amounts of protein to complete protein synthesis. During protein synthesis, the RNA
will not be able to deliver genetic material to the DNA, and the body will not be able to
build muscle. Enzymes are made up of proteins that break down food to be converted
into amino acids for the body. For example, carbohydrates are broken down by
enzymes to be converted into energy for the body. Without all of these processes
happening in the body, the body would not be able to maintain homeostasis or function.
After working on the food journal I have learned more about what types of foods I
should be eating more of and foods I should eat a lot less of. For example, I should eat
or drink more foods with dairy and less oils or fats. Throughout this project when I was
looking up the number of biomolecules in the foods I was eating learned that some of
the foods have more carbohydrates, fats, and calories than I had originally thought. I
have also learned the why it is important to eat the proper amount of carbohydrates and
what carbohydrates do in the body, without enough carbohydrates the enzymes do not
have anything break down to give the body energy to function. While working on this
project I learned the importance of eating all of the biomolecules and what their role is in
the body.
