- Studied Catastrophic Hedging Alternatives such as Cat bonds, Sidecars for the Indian Government
- Funding Cheapener Prospects for Asian Oil Producers and Refiners
Mesh Partitioning Techniques, Ecole Centrale Paris, Paris, France (May-July 2010)
- Simulated a mesh partitioning technique for a bigger project of partitioning the Electrical networks in France
- Partitioned a 2D geometry and was further extended to partition a 3D geometry with desired characteristics
- Added other post processing functionalities and finally a C++ interface was created to run these partitioning methods
KEY ACADEMIC PROJECTS
B.Tech Project, 3D Face Modeling and Recognition using Kinect, IIT Kanpur (July- 2011)
- Implemented 3D face modelling for few test objects using RGBD data from the Kinect sensor from 3 different angles
- Extracted face from a test image using different facial recognition algorithms
- 3D face model built was used for the classification of test images and in run time for recognising people
A Probabilistic Model for Surveillance Video Mining, IIT Kanpur (July-Nov 2011)
- Trained a mixture of Hidden Markov Models using expectation-maximization scheme to identify similar segments
- Gaussian Mixture Models were implemented for the effective background subtraction of the surveillance video
- Abnormal events and meaningful patterns were mined based on the above models
Adaptive Websites, IIT Kanpur (July-Nov 2010)
- Built a model that automatically improves a websites organization and presentation by giving adaptive
recommendations based on the content and users behaviour
- Trained a model to extract the most important words of any article and were used to recommend other articles.
POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILTY
Senior Executive Public Relations, Techkriti11 (Annual Technological Festival of IIT Kanpur)
- Expanded the scope of the people to be invited for Techkriti11 by including social entrepreneurs
- Managed an entire exhibition during the festival & maximized its visibility
Security Secretary, Hall V (July09-Apr10)
- Elected by 450 students of Hall of Residence V and was a part of the Anti-Ragging Committee 09
- Introduced Laptop-I cards for the smooth transition of laptops throughout the campus(very first of its kind in IITK)
- Organized Fete 2010, the New Years Eve fest, IIT Kanpur, attended by more than 1000 students
Editor NERD (Scientific Magazine of IIT Kanpur) (July09-Apr10)
- Visited Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Labs of West Bengal with the objective of bringing out
the state of art research to the people.
