THE YES MAN

“For it is he who is the "Yes" to all of God's promises. This is why through Jesus Christ our
"Amen" is said to the glory of God.” (2Corith1:20 GNB)

How would you feel if you have to say “yes” to everything you do or you are asked? There is
a film (which is where the title of the writing is from) in which a father was asked never to
say “no” again. Because he had been a liar for a long time, he was asked always to say “yes”
to every questions asked. I tell you, it is not easy neither is it convenient to continually say
“yes” in every situation. For one, there are some things you can’t say “yes” to, because “no”
is actually the truth of the matter.

Also when you attain a level in leadership it is easy to find people who for the benefit of
what they will get from you or because of the awe they have for you due to your
achievements or the fear of being wrong or just because they do not want to be in your
“bad book” will always say “yes” to everything you do or say even when everyone knows it
is dumb. The story is told of a king who was duped by fraudsters and made to walk naked in
public because he was made to believe that he was wearing invisible special golden attire.
Because his wise men didn’t want to sound stupid, offend or make the king feel stupid they
refused to tell him the truth. The whole nation too not wanting to let out the stupidity of
the king refused to tell him, it took the innocence of a child who asked why the king was
walking in public naked before he realised he was in reality naked.

The worst people a leader should surround him with are people who never tell him the truth
and any leader who is not willing to be accountable to anybody sets himself up for the kill. It
is just a matter of time he must fall. For it is a demonstration of pride and the bible say
“pride goes before destruction....” It is a disaster also if a leader because of his “exalted
office” thinks he is all wise and can never be wrong, so he doesn’t like being advised as to
what to do much less being corrected. Such a one enjoys the presence of these kinds of
people called “yes men” and as history had always proven, great will be the fall of such a
men or he will never attain to his pinnacle in life. No man is an island to himself, so no man
can survive this life without the input of others. For nobody is self sufficient not even the
most intelligent being alive today.

Both being asked to always say “yes” to everything and being surrounded by “yes men” are
not very palatable situations. We can from this conclude that even though the word “yes” is
a very affirmative word, there are times that “no” might be preferable for the good of the
individuals concerned. So in reality therefore, no human being can be termed a “yes man”
except he is a fraud, a liar, and an untruthful lout.

It is only in the Bible that just one man was referred to as “the yes man”. The verse 19 of our
base scripture says “For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was preached among you ...is not
one who is "Yes" and "No." On the contrary, he is God's "Yes". Here Jesus is described as the
“yes man”. That is, there is no ambiguity about Him; He is the absolute “yes”. He is not “yes”
to some, “maybe” to another and “no” to the rest. His yes does not change with changing
situation nor does it change with the environment and locations. It is always same. As the
scriptures says, “Jesus the same yesterday today and forever”. Nothing changes what He
had said, not even civilisation. His yes is yes in New York City, Paris, Japan, Saudi Arabia,
Russia, and Australia and even in the remotest village in Africa. What He says to the rich
man is as real to the poor man, what is true for the male gender is true also for the female
gender, what is true for the children is bound on the adult too (in God there is no juvenile
delinquency. Both young and old that disobeys him are delinquent)

So for example if He says He is the healer then He is. He is not just the healer of headache
but not a healer of cancer. With God according to this word, there is no incurable disease,
because through Jesus the healing power of God is available to all concerned. He is not just
the healer of the righteous but not of the unrighteous. He is not just the healer of the rich
and not of the poor. He is not just the healer of the Europeans and Americans and not of the
Africans He is the healer of all not minding your location, status, sex, age etc.

Observe that scripture again, it said Jesus is God’s Yes. That is, whatever God stands for,
whatever He promises, whatever He will or can do, whatever can be claimed from God are
all yes through Jesus. It means therefore from that scripture, that as long as you are
connected to Jesus you are sure of whatever God can, will or shall do. With you on Jesus
side, you stand in a good stead. Another translation of that scripture quotes,” For he is the
Yes to all the undertakings of God: and by him all the words of God are made certain and
put into effect, to the glory of God through us.” (2Corith1:20 BBE) Here, Jesus is referred to
as the fulfilment and the certainties of all things God intends to do, therefore He is the
stamp of authority that all that is written in the Bible shall come to pass. That is so
wonderful.

Why is this so? Jesus was the only one that fulfilled the absolute price for the sin of
mankind. He it is that shed His innocent blood to remit our sin. Jesus is the only Son of God
who through His blood gave us the right of adoption and since through Him we are sons, we
then have the right to everything the Father stands to give Him, hence we are joint heirs.
Jesus also was the only one that died and went to hell thereby paying the full wage for sin
which is death. And through that He had taken the authority which Adam and Eve lost to
Satan through sin and He had through His resurrection bequeathed back to mankind the
authority to take charge over the Earth again. Hallelujah!!! Let me dance a few minutes for I
am too joyful right now!!!

Because of these and more the scripture said “For it is he who is the "Yes" to all of God's
promises.” He is the “yes” to the forgiveness of sin, the “yes” to your inheritance, the “yes”
to your promotions, the “yes” to your healing, the “yes” to your break through, the “yes” to
your promotion, the “yes” to your forgiveness of sin, the “yes” to your promotions, the
“yes” to your blessing, the “yes” to your fulfilled destiny, the “yes” to your holiness, the
“yes” to your children, the “yes” to your spouse, the “yes” to your manifestation, He is the
“yes” to anything promised. Once you see God’s promises, you see Jesus as the fulfilment.
Period!

Until you appreciate, understand and accept this all important truth, you will struggle with
the other side of that scripture that says “This is why through Jesus Christ our "Amen" is said
to the glory of God.” If you struggle with the fact that all of God’s promises are
accomplished in Jesus then you will struggle with the word “Amen” (which simply means ‘so
be it’). The meaning, effect and the power of your ‘Amen’ is connected to what you know
and accept about Jesus. That word only becomes effectual when you are in agreement with
the fact that Jesus is the “yes man” of God. If you have any reason to doubt either through
ignorance or the deceit of the devil, you will never get the end of your expectation.

The basic reason therefore why any prayer will be answered by God is because it came
through Jesus Christ not necessarily because of your holiness or an anointed man of God.
We can also see that the main reason why we make sure we mention Jesus name in our
prayers (either at the beginning, middle or ending) is because we believe that what we are
asking, demanding or desiring are within the frame work of the finished work of the “yes
man”, so by putting His name, we are assured of the answer and in all, the name of our God
shall be glorified.

So when next you are about to pray (kneeling down, standing or sitting with your eyes
opened or closed) be sure you are sure and you know that what you are about to ask for or
require is in line with the promises of God which guarantees that the “yes man” had already
authenticated it, and since you know it is authenticated be sure to put the “yes man” name
in the requested and then say a big amen and go home smiling because surely the name of
the Lord shall be glorified in the request because the “yes man” is a sure bet that your
prayer is already answered. AMEN!!!
