Chapter 17 Cudacountry and Cuda


A. Create Rectangle.
Step 1. If necessary start a new Mastercam file, click File Menu
> New .

Step 2. Click Create Menu > Rectangle. Or click the Rectangle


Tool in the toolbar.

Step 3. In the Rectangle ribbon bar set, Fig. 1

Width 3
Fig. 1
Height 1.5

Step 4. Click the down arrow in Auto Cursor ribbon


bar and click Origin to place rectangle,

Step 4. Click OK in ribbon bar to fix rectangle and


close ribbon bar, Fig. 3.

Step 5. Click Fit (Alt-F1).

B. Save As CUDACOUNTRY AND CUDA Fig. 3


Step 1. Click File Menu > Save As.

Step 2. Key-in CUDACOUNTRY AND CUDA for the filename and press ENTER.

C. Merge Cuda File.


Step 1. Download cuda.dxf from
Mastercam cudacountry web
page. http://www.cudacountry.
net/html/mastercamx_toc.html

Step 2. Back in Mastercam X7, click


File Menu > File Merge/Pat-
tern.

Step 3. Set Files of type to AutoCAD.


DXF, Fig. 4.

Step 4. Select the cuda.dxf file and Fig. 4


click Open.

Step 5. Click Fit (Alt-F1). The cuda is huge and rectangle is just barely visible down in the
left corner of the screen. You need to scale the cuda.

Step 6. Set Scale .00023 in ribbon bar, Fig. 5.

Step 7. Set Rotation 0 in ribbon bar, Fig. 5.

Step 8. Click OK in ribbon bar.

D. Set Grid and Snap .1.


Step 1. Use Alt-G to display Grid dialog box, Fig. 7
Check Active grid
Check Visible grid
Set X and Y Spacing .1
Click OK .

E. If Necessary, Scale Cuda.


Step 1. Click Xform Menu > Scale.

Step 2. Click All in General Selection ribbon bar, Fig. 8.

Step 5. Click End Selection (ENTER) in rib-

Step 6. In Scale dialog box:

Set scale factor to less than 1 (such
as .9) to scale smaller. To scale larger
set to greater that 1.
Click OK .

Step 7. Right click drawing area and click Clear

F. Move Cuda.
Step 1. Click Xform Menu > Drag.
Start grid
Step 2. Make window selection around Cuda, Fig. 11. point

Step 3. Click End Selection (ENTER) in ribbon

G. Turn Off Snap.


Step 1. Turn off Snap. Use Alt-G.

Step 2. Uncheck Active grid in Snap Properties and click OK ,

H. Create TECH ED Text.
Step 1. Draw the TECH ED red. Click the color swatch in the Status Bar at the bottom of the
screen. Key-in 12 for red color number and press ENTER.

Step 2. Click Create Menu > Letters.

Step 3. In the Create Letters dialog box, Fig. 15


Lock Caps and key-in
TECH ED
Select Top of Arc
Height .2
Arc Radius 5
Spacing .07
Click OK .

Step 4. Click drawing area to place letters, Fig. 15

Step 5. Save (Alt-F S).

I. Move TECH ED Text.


Step 1. Click Xform Menu > Drag.

Step 3. Click End Selection (ENTER) in ribbon bar.

Step 4. Click Move and Translate in ribbon bar, Fig. 17.

Step 5. Click in the middle of the TECH ED text for the


starting point, Fig. 16.

Step 6. Position the TECH ED text above body of cuda in


front of tail and click, Fig. 18.

Step 7. Click OK in ribbon bar to fix and close rib- Fig. 18

J. Create CUDACOUNTRY Text.
Step 1. Draw the CUDACOUNTRY blue. Click the color swatch in the Status Bar at the bottom of
the screen. Key-in 9 for blue color number and press ENTER.

Step 2. Click Create Menu > Letters.

Step 3. In the Create Letters dialog box, Fig. 19

CUDACOUNTRY
Select Bottom of Arc
Height .2
Arc Radius 5
Spacing .07
Click OK .

Step 4. Click drawing area to place letters, Fig. 19

K. Move CUDACOUNTRY Text.

L. Create Circle For Hole.
Step 1. Draw circle yellow. Click the color swatch in Status Bar at bottom of screen. Click yel-
low, number 14 and click OK.

Step 2. Click Create Menu > Arc > Circle Center Point.

Step 3. Key-in .14 for diameter , Fig. 23. Click Diameter to lock. The field turns red
when locked.
