3) Task for private reflection/Imagery

Now, Think about your trip to the zoo yesterday, think about 1 animal that you really
enjoyed watching,
Think about ways your animal moved. Did they move at all? If so was it fast or Slow? Heavy
or Light? Etc What kinds of things did you see them do? Did they eat? Scratch themselves?
Swat flies? Sleep? Snuggle with another animal? Etc
Lets imagine we each have a pair of those amazing goggles Jemima brought in for news on
Wednesday,
(5 mins) Before you put them on, watch me for a moment (Model putting goggles on face then
cover each eye with your fingers so you cant see anything) Now ask the students to do the
same.
When you have them on you are looking out of the eyes of your animal. Look up, Look right,
left, down, Its a busy Zoo what can you see? what can you hear? What are you thinking
about?
Can you see that group of students dressed in red uniforms? What are they doing? What
sounds are they making?
How do you feel having them all looking at you? Do you enjoy it? Do you like showing off?
Do you hope they have food for you? Do you find their presence annoying and you wish
they would leave? Are you not bothered if they are there or not?
***Take the goggles off now***
4)
Q:
How did you feel being inside the animal? Did you notice something that you didnt notice
yesterday?
Hands up if you liked being watched by the students?
(2 mins) Hands up if you werent bothered at all by their presence? Where was your focus?
Who can tell me something they saw when looking at the students?
Someone else for what they heard? Smelt? Etc

5) Ok, shortly we are going to make our way back to our desks, where you will be given a worksheet to

you will write an imaginary letter or description of your experiences of the Yr 4s trip to the zoo from
the animals perspective.

those students to come and collect the worksheets from you, tell the others that if they feel
confident with the information they can go and sit down. (Repeat with other tables)
Ask those who are a bit lost with what is expected, to stay with you on the mat so we can
discuss it a bit further.
