E-Spin Nanotech Pvt. Ltd.

Background:

Spinning innovation into fibers is an art of science and engineering, and that is what we are the best at. Founded in
the year 2010 under the aegis of SIDBI, IIT-Kanpur, E-Spin Nanotech Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as a leading high-tech
enterprise for manufacturing high quality and cost-effective multi-functional nanofibers to address the unmet basic
needs of the society. The company draws its strength from a strong research and development team working
relentlessly in pursuit of improvement and improvisation in performance and quality of our products. On the other
hand, E-Spin Nanotech Pvt. Ltd. has also re-engineered conventional electrospinning and revolutionized the
prospects of nanofibers with the launch of series of advanced electrospinning units specifically designed to meet
sophisticated prerequisites of research organization and industries. The company is working with undeterred
commitment to achieve its long-term goal and vision.

Our Roller-Coaster Ride To The Top:

Our first lab scale prototype of electrospinning equipment was designed in collaboration with Indian Institute of
Technology Kanpur and successfully installed in the year 2010 which continues to work in hassle free manner till
date. After earning a thumping success in our initial efforts, we set pace to our journey through a learning curve and
due course of this time our products constantly evolved along with the need and satisfactions of our growing
customers. The two-way exchange of knowledge and service from our customers and prompt response to their needs
with the best efforts possible had become a vital stepping stone of our success. Leading on such a holistic approach
we have successfully achieved a landmark by selling 50 indigenously developed electrospinning units all across the
nation and to overseas organizations in US, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Bangladesh, France, Malaysia and
Spain. Through persistent efforts of our ardent researchers and enthusiastic manufacturing team we have raised
ourselves to achieve grand repute of international standards.

Product Background:

Thinking beyond HEPA - Next-generation nHEPA technology for air purifiers

With soaring levels of air pollution in major metropolitan cities across the globe there is growing concern of its
harmful side effects on human health. In order to cope with such adverse conditions people have sought efficient air
purifiers as life savers. Although wide range of air purifiers have flooded the market, unfortunately, they failed to
cope up with the high levels of pollution with their conventional design. At present, HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate
Arrestance) is the most widely adopted technology for achieving 99.99% particulate filtration. Although reliable to
certain extent, it is often associated with its own drawbacks like inability to filter particles in the range of 300-200
nm (most penetrating particle size) and is often associated with high energy consumption and maintenance charge.
In order to address these issues, we have developed first of its kind photocatalytic composite nanofiber based
filtration media which tackles the drawbacks of conventional HEPA system by addressing the following issues. Thus,
in an attempt to improve efficiency of these air filters in the present work we have developed photocatalytic
nanofiber based HEPA technology (i.e. nanoHEPA).
Owing to the nanoscale dimension of these nanofibers they offer high surface-to-volume ratio, low air resistance and
enhanced filtration performance which makes them a promising candidate for air purification. The composite
nanofiber filter fabricated by us achieves better filtration efficiency at much lower pressure drop as compared to the
glass microfibers used in standard HEPA. Apart from these advantages, the photocatalytic nanocomposites
incorporated within these nanofibers disinfects the air and averts surface fouling by its photocatalytic activity under
visible light. In summary, the composite nanofiber achieves efficient removal of particulate matter as well as
disinfection of air from pathogenic airborne microbes.

Specific technical performance features are summarized are follows;

(1) nHEPA technology traps particles even in the size range of 0.2-0.3 um particles and outperforms HEPA in this
attribute.

(2) The photocatalytic composite nanoparticle incorporated within the nanofiber media enables usage point of
disinfection which adapts two mechanisms

UV radiation.

Photocatalytic nanoparticle mediated photooxidation.

(3) At the same time, it offers minimal impedance to air flow which lower pressure drop and thus operates at
much lower energy as compared to HEPA.

(4) It disinfects bacteria as and when they get entrapped in the filter media which leads to safer usage and
disposal system.

Problem Statements:

With the technology and product prototype already ready at hand, we need to develop a business strategy for
introducing this product into the air filtration market setting.

In the business strategy specific emphasis must be laid on the following two aspects;

(a) With the given background information on product and company strike a balance between risk and effective
market penetration strategy?
(b) What would be the most effective tagline and advertising script for this product?
