Reading

Katie and Alice Brown are twins. They live in the north of England, in a small town
about 50 kilometres from the big city of Manchester. They share, of course, the same birthday:
15th April, although Katie is older by a few minutes. They are 15 years old now. Although
they are twin sisters, they dont look the same. They both have blue eyes but Katie has long,
dark hair while Alice has short, fair hair.
The interesting thing about Katie and Alice is that they are interested in and are good
at different things. In fact, they only really have one interest in common: painting. Katie
enjoys doing different sports. Shes really good at playing tennis and volleyball and shes
a good swimmer too. In contrast, Alice hates doing any sport. However, she really enjoys
listening to music and also plays an instrument. In fact, shes very good at playing the guitar.
Katie is very sociable and enjoys going out for meals and to the disco with her friends.
But Alice hardly ever goes out with her sister. She is a bit shy and isnt keen on going out at all,
so she prefers to stay at home, watching films on TV and surfing the Internet.
At school, the twin sisters enjoy studying different things. Katie is keen on learning languages.
Shes good at speaking French and Spanish. But she hates studying maths and physics because

she thinks that these subjects are too difficult. In contrast, Alice enjoys studying many subjects
