1. Check if You Need a Visa

50 countries, including U.S.A. and E.U.

Visa on arrival for nationals of more than 80

countries (also qualify for e-visas)

Citizens of 11 Asian and all African

countries (except South Africa) must obtain
visas in advance

An invitation letter from Armenia is normally

required for the latter group
2. Get an Invitation Letter
Legal entities file invitation letters with the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Individuals file invitation lettres with the

Police

An invitation letter is normally approved in

2-3 weeks after security checks are
completed

After approval you can get your visa at any

Armenian embassy abroad
3. Obtain a Visa
A visa can be issued by one of around 40
Armenian embassies

A visa application and a photograph must be

submitted

The visa fees are in the range of $6 to $83

and can be paid online

Visas are normally valid for 21 to 120 days

and can be extended by up to 60 days
4. Apply for a Residence Permit
Apply for a residence permit before your
visa expires

Residence permits are issued to investors,

business people, employees, students and
their families

A residence permit is issued by the Police

in 30 days

Armenia issues temporary, permanent and

special residence permits
5. Register Your Address
After the residence permit is issued
you have 15 days to register your
address

Address registration is done at the

local police station

A physical check by a police officer

can be done at this stage
6. Apply for a Social Security Number
You can apply for a social security
number (SSN) at the same police
station where address registration
was done

A legal resident is expected to

have an SSN, which is often
required by employers, banks, tax
authorities and government
agencies
