1.gaayathri manthra praises whom?

Slo || aum bhooh bhuvah suvah thath savithuh varENyam

bhargO DEvasya Dheemahi DhiyOyOnah prachODayaath ||

meaning

The god, who is inspiring our characteristics, I am meditating that savitha gods glow.

See here, in this manthra no where we can see the goddess name gayathri. But
how it s popular as gayathri manthra ?

This slokas chanDa is gayathri. There are 24 chandas in Sanskrit to write

slokas or hymns. (ex. anushtup, thrishtup, gaayathri etc)

Based on that chanda this manthra is written. So it popular as gayathri manthra

Now, we should know who is savitha. Generally savitha refers soorya according to
some other persons description. But we have to know actually who is savitha.

2. viswakarma savitha

shoo prEraNah ithi savithah.

savitha means the person who inspires

suvathi (suptham) prErayathi ithi savithah

Another meaning is the person who invokes the sleepy ones

Slo || hOthru japasthwagnih vySwaanareeyO bhavathi

DEva savitha rEtham thwaa vruNathE agnim

hOthraaya saha pithraa vySwaanarENa (niruktham 7 chapter)

Meaning :savitha is the originator of every thing. He is the father to every one.

Slo || DEvah thwashtaa savithaa viSwaroopaah

pupOsha prajaah puruDhaa jajaanah(rug 3.55.16)

Meaning : the DEva, savitha, viSwaroopa is the thwashtaa is the originator of the
praja(living beings) and he is the feeder

Slo || garbhEnunau janithaa Dampatheekah

DEvah thwashtaa savithaa viSwaroopaah(rug 10.10.5)

Meaning : the DEva, savitha, viSwaroopa is the thwashtaa is making

pairs(Dampatheekah) when they are in the womb(garbha) itself.
Slo || thwashtaa vy paSoonaam miDhunaanaam roopakruth (yajurvEda)

Meaning : thwashtaa making face cuts (roopaakruth) and making pairs (miDhuna)

Slo || piSanga roopah subharO vayODhaah Srushtee veerO jaayathE DEvakaamah

prajaam thwashtaa vipyathu naabhim asmE atHaa DEvaanaam apyEthu paatHah

Meaning : by the grace of the god thwashta who is giving the children to continue
vamSa, I hope he give me the son who performs yagna, donates food, with good
characteristics and beloved by the gods.

Slo || vuDvayam thamasah pari jyOthih paSyantha vuththaram

DEvam DEvathraa sooryam aganma jyOthih vuththamam(rug 1.50.10)

Meaning : who rises after night, purest among the gods is soorya, visit him & get his light

Slo || soorya aathmaa jagathah sTha sThushaScha(rug 1.115.1)

Meaning : soorya is the soul for any living being.

Slo || yEsha DEvO viSwakarmaa mahaathmaa

saDaa janaanaam hruDayE sannivishtah(SwEthaaSwatharopanishath)

Meaning : viSwakarma always lies in every heart of the living beings

Slo || viSwakarmaa aaSishaa DraviNam ichcHa maanah

paramath chaDO vara aavivESa

Meaning : because of having the intention to create universe again, he entered the hearts
of the living beings.

Slo || savithaa yanthryh pruThveem aramNaath

skambhanE Savithaa Dyaama Drumhath(rug 10.149.1)

Meaning : savitha placed the earth with the help of machinery. With the Sankhas which
are not destroyable, he placed Dyu lOka

Slo || viSwakarmaa Dyaavaa bhoomee janayan yEka DEvah(rug 10.81.3)

Meaning : viswakarma created and placed the Dyaavaa and priThvee

These manthraas are enough to prove savitha = viswakarma

Still there are so many hymns to prove savitha and viswakarma are same.
