Job Purpose:
To identify, develop, commission and manage SCIEs e-learning and web based
projects; develop and maintain partnerships with all stakeholders, advisors and
contractors, and ensure the delivery of quality products and services.
Main Duties
1. Assess SCIEs existing projects and identify priority areas for e-learning

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Aptitude / Abilities / Skills
The ability to translate SCIEs and others knowledge into learning material
An understanding of the principles and practice of user-centred design/product development
Excellent communications skills to include the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of
technical and non-technical staff, the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical
audiences and to engage others in e-learning
Good team worker with a collaborative approach to work
Ability to manage and prioritise a complex and varied workload
Critical skills to review and evaluate e-learning products and services
Education / Knowledge
Educated to degree level, or equivalent, plus appropriate vocational training
Knowledge of the higher education and/or further education sector
Understanding of technical ICT aspects of e-learning
Understanding of pedagogical, technical and instructional design aspects of e-learning
Experience
Minimum 3 years demonstrable experience of e-learning development and project management
work (including understanding of Prince 2 or equivalent)
Client focused and a track record of delivering e-learning materials and support services to educators
and learners
Experience of delegating to and supervising contractors or developers
Experience of accessibility issues in the spreading of knowledge to a wide range of users, e.g.
carers, people with learning disabilities, people who use services and providers
