204th conducts sling load training

Soldiers from 204th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, conduct sling load training with help from
Marines who flew in from San Diego, Calif. Soldiers were divided into teams, where each was responsible for hooking up the sling load or
signaling the aircraft. Sling load will be neccessary for a large amount of missions conducted overseas.

Scenario: A company receives a mission to conduct a reconnaissance mission and meet with local officials within a town. During move-
ment the company encounters a complex improvised explosive device attack which consists of daisy chained IEDs and enemy over watch
positions which include sniper and small arms contact and mortar contact.

Soldiers on Hasty Attack Lane

Scenario: A company receives intelligence that mechanized Shurian forces have crossed the international border into Kandahar Province to
protect insurgent capabilities. The company receives a mission to conduct a hasty attack to destroy all enemy forces in the area.

Soldiers on Patrol Base Defense

Scenario: A company receives a mission to establish a Patrol Base near a specific population center in order to augment an existing outpost
occupied by Afghan National Security Forces. The unit will have to link-up with their Afghanistan National Security Forces counterparts,
establish a patrol base, conduct a Key Leader Engagement with local officials, and repel probing attacks by hostile Shurian forces in the
Area of Operation.

Open house at Pinon Canyon

The Warhorse Brigade conducted outreach to the communities surrounding the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site with a hosted tour for local
officials and a open house for community members. Approximately 30 members of the surrounding communites’ political and business
leaders were taken through two of the site’s training areas, while approximately 130 people attended the open house picnic.
