Os contedos programticos da unidade curricular Direito Internacional Pblico II visam estabelecer uma panormica
geral da atuao da Unio Europeia ao nvel da concluso de tratados internacionais, do relacionamento com outras
organizaes internacionais e com Estados terceiros bem como da sua participao na defesa e segurana comum, o
que permitir aos Estudantes adquirirem os conhecimentos necessrios no domnio da ao da Unio na cena
internacional com vista a compreenderem os novos desafios que a Unio Europeia enfrenta neste domnio.

O ensino compe-se de aulas tericas a ministrar pelo regente da unidade curricular e de aulas prticas, nas quais
sero estudadas as fontes da ao externa da Unio Europeia, designadamente os Tratados institutivos da Unio
Europeia bem como o direito derivado, o soft law - que neste domnio muito importante - a jurisprudncia dos
Tribunais da Unio Europeia e a doutrina. Sero igualmente resolvidas hipteses prticas oralmente pelos alunos e
ser efetuado um pequeno exerccio escrito em data previamente indicada. A avaliao contnua ser composta pelo
teste escrito final (50%), pelas participaes orais (30%) e pelo pequeno exerccio escrito (20%). A dispensa do
exame escrito e consequente aprovao da unidade curricular ser com 10 (dez) valores.
Demonstrao da coerncia das metodologias de ensino com os objetivos de aprendizagem da unidade curricular
O mtodo de anlise e discusso das diversas fontes bem como a resoluo de casos prticos permitir aos Estudantes
adquirir os conhecimentos necessrios aprovao da unidade curricular.

THE CURRENT CHALLENGES TO THE UNIONS ACTION ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE
The study of the sources of the Unions external action - the Treaties, the secondary and soft law - the discussion of
the doctrine, and the case-law of the European Unions Courts as well as the solution of hypothetical cases will give
the students an overview of the Unions External Action, which is important to understand the current challenges in
this area.
Teaching methodology is based on the study of Primary and Secondary European Union Law, doctrine, and case law.
The evaluation is composed by the oral solution of hypothetical cases and analyses of case law, and small written
tests. Written test (50%); Oral participation (30%); Small written exercises (20%).
Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes
The teaching methodologies will allow the students to acquire theoretic and practical tools in the matters of EU
External Action and to be aware of the current challenges within this domain.
