TANK INSPECTION
The life of an air receiver tank is dependent upon
several factors including, but not limited to, operating
conditions, ambient environments, and the level of
maintenance. The exact effect of these factors on
tank life is difficult to predict; therefore,
Ingersoll-Rand recommends that you schedule a
certified tank inspection within the first five years of
compressor service. To arrange a tank inspection,

EN Description
2 Description
Ingersoll Rand desiccant dryers are designed to remove moisture vapour from compressed air. Providing pressure dewpoints of -40C (-40F)
or -70C (-100F) at specified conditions.
The dryers comprise of extruded aluminium columns. Each column contains twin chambers filled with desiccant material that dries the
compressed air as it passes through. One chamber is operational (drying), whilst the opposite chamber is regenerating by Pressure Swing
Adsorption (PSA).
Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA)
A small amount of the dried compressed air is used to regenerate the spent desiccant bed. Dried air at line pressure is expanded to atmospheric
pressure through the regenerating column.
If DDS is fitted, this will adjust the dryer's cycle in line with the moisture loading placed upon it, by constantly monitoring the processed air
moisture content. Also available as a retrofit to all dryer models.
Stated flows are for operation at 7 bar g (102 psi g) with reference to 20C (68F), 1 bar (a) (14.5 psi), 0% relative humidity. For flows at other

Ensure that it is correctly sized for the inlet pressure, taking into consideration the pressure drop caused by the valves, pipes and filters within
the system. Allowance should be made for purge air loss. The dryer should be typically sized at 1 bar (14 psi/0.1MPa) below nominal
compressor output pressure.
The purge air flow is factory set for 6 bar g (87 psi g) minimum system pressure. Should the minimum supply pressure be lower than this figure
the purge air flow must be reset in order to maintain the specified dewpoint. Please contact your local Ingersoll Rand office for assistance.
Ensure that it is correctly sized for inlet temperature to meet the dewpoint specified.
Ensure that the electrical supply voltage and frequency meet the requirements detailed within this specification and on the equipment rating
plate.

EN Installation & Commissioning
Only competent personnel trained, qualified, and approved by Ingersoll Rand should perform installation, commissioning
and service procedures.
Warning
Referring to diagram A4 in Annex A, the following equipment is recommended to meet these requirements:
The use of a bypass line will allow wet untreated air into the system. It should therefore only be used in extreme
circumstances.
The dryer can be free standing or secured to the floor via the fastener points provided in the base..
Ensure that each filter condensate drain is suitably piped away and any effluent is disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
The Energy Management System (EMS) system requires a sampling point to be inserted into the piping between the D grade outlet filter and
the isolation valve as shown in diagram A5. This sampling point should be linked to the 4mm push in connector of the EMS system using P.T.F.E
tubing.
It is important to ensure that all piping materials are suitable for the application, clean and debris free. The diameter of the pipes must be
sufficient to allow unrestricted inlet air supply to the equipment and outlet gas / air supply to the application.
When routing the pipes ensure that they are adequately supported to prevent damage and leaks in the system.
All components used within the system must be rated to at least the maximum operating pressure of the equipment. It is recommended that the
system be protected with suitably rated pressure relief valves.
A by-pass line may be installed into the system to provide a constant air supply during maintenance.
The by-pass line will allow untreated air to pass to the application and should only be used when the dryer has been shut
down.
6
EN Installation & Commissioning
A fully qualified electrical engineer must undertake all electrical work in accordance with local regulations.
Warning
Attach the cordset provided to the fused electrical power supply inlet
on the equipment and connect to the electrical supply.
If a cordset, other than the one provided with the equipment, is used to
connect the equipment to the electrical supply ensure that it is suitably
rated for the application and in accordance with local and national
code regulations.
The dryer must be bonded to earth at the terminal marked with the international symbol IEC-60417 5017.
Warning
7
EN Operating the equipment
Start-up should be undertaken by a Ingersoll Rand trained, qualified and approved service engineer.
Warning
1. Ensure that the isolation valves on the inlet and the outlet of the dryer are closed.
2. Connect the electrical supply to the dryer and verify that the Power On indicator is illuminated.
3. Slowly open the isolation valve on the inlet of the dryer. Verify that there are no leaks.
4. Test the condensate drains of the filters and verify that they are discharging correctly into a suitable collection vessel.
5. When the dryer is pressurised to full system pressure, slowly open the outlet isolation valve.
6. Verify that the column pressure gauges are cycling between zero and full system pressure every three minutes.
If the dryer is producing air at a better dewpoint than specified the EMS system will hold the dryer at a point just before the changeover occurs.
The green "ECO" LED will illuminate and both pressure gauges will read full system pressure.
If a by-pass line has been fitted, simultaneously open the by-pass valve.
2. De-pressurise the dryer by venting through the drain ball valve on the outlet dust filter.
8
EN Servicing
5 Servicing
The recommended service procedures identified in table 5.2 and all other repair and calibration work should be undertaken by a Ingersoll Rand
trained, qualified and approved engineer.
5.1 Cleaning
Clean the equipment with a damp cloth only and avoid excessive moisture around any electrical sockets. If required you may use a mild
detergent, however do not use abrasives or solvents as they may damage the warning labels on the equipment.

Installation recommendations
It is recommended that the compressed air is treated prior to entry into the distribution system and also at critical usage points / applications.
Installation of compressed air dryer to a previously wet system could result in additional dirt loading for point of use filters for a period whilst the
distribution system dries out. Filter elements may need to be changed more frequently during this period.
For installations where oil-free compressors are used, water aerosol and particulate are still present, general purpose and high efficiency grades
should still be used.
A general purpose filter must always be installed to protect the high efficiency filter from bulk liquid aerosols and solid particulate.
Install purification equipment at the lowest temperature above freezing point, preferably downstream of aftercoolers and air receivers.
Point of use purification equipment should be installed as close to the application as possible.
Purification equipment should not be installed downstream of quick opening valves and should be protected from possible reverse flow or other
shock conditions.
Purge all piping leading to the purification equipment before installation and all piping after the purification equipment is installed and before
connection to the final application.
If by-pass lines are fitted around purification equipment, ensure adequate filtration is fitted to the
by-pass line to prevent contamination of the system downstream.
Provide a facility to drain away collected liquids from the purification equipment. Collected liquids should be treated and disposed of in a
responsible manner.
NL
mogelijke tegenstroom of andere schoksituaties.

Anbefalinger for installering
Filterelementene m kanskje skiftes oftere i denne perioden.

Trattare e smaltire i liquidi raccolti in modo responsabile.

Rakkomandazzjonijiet g[all-Installazzjoni
Nirrakkomandaw li l-arja kompressata ti;i trattata qabel ma tid[ol fis-sistema ta distribuzzjoni kif ukoll fil-punti / l-applikazzjonijiet kriti/i ta l-u]u.
L-installazzjoni ta tag[mir li jnixxef l-arja kumpressata fuq sistema li kienet imxarrba jista jirri]ulta faktar tag[bija ta [mie; g[all-filtri li jintu]aw fpunt
wie[ed, g[all-perjodu sakemm is-sistema ta distribuzzjoni tinxef. L-elementi tal-filtri jista jkollhom b]onn li jinbidlu aktar spiss matul dan il-perjodu.
G[al installazzjonijiet fejn jintu]aw kumpressuri ming[ajr ]ejt, xorta jkun hemm pre]enti ajrusols u partijiet ta l-ilma, g[alhekk xorta g[andhom jintu]aw gradi
bi skop ;enerali u beffi//jenza kbira.
Filtru g[al skopijiet ;enerali g[andu dejjem ji;i installat biex jipprote;i l-filtru ta effi/jenza kbira mill-volum kbir ta ajrusols likwidi u partijiet solidi.
Installa tag[mir ta purifikazzjoni fl-aktar temperatura baxxa possibbli imma bmod li ma jkunx hemm iffri]ar, preferibbilment aktar l isfel mill-aftercoolers u
mir-ri/evituri ta l-arja.
Tag[mir tal-purifikazzjoni fil-punt ta l-u]u g[andu ji;i installat kemm jista jkun qrib tal-post fejn g[andu japplika.
It-tag[mir ta purifikazzjoni mg[andux ji;i installat aktar l isfel mill-valvs li jift[u malajr u g[andu jkun protett minn possibilit ta fluss blura jew
kundizzjonijiet o[ra stressanti.
Naddaf il-pajps kollha li jwasslu g[at-tag[mir ta purifikazzjoni qabel tinstalla u l-papjs kollha wara li tinstalla t-tag[mir ta purifikazzjoni u qabel ma tqabbad
ma l-applikazzjoni finali.
Jekk tiffittja linji ta by-pass madwar it-tag[mir ta purifikazzjoni, kun ]gur li hemm bi]]ejjed filtrazzjoni ffittjata mal-linja tal-by-pass biex ma t[allix li jkun
hemm kontaminazzjoni tas-sistema aktar l isfel.
Ipprovdi fa/ilit biex tiddrejnja l-likwidi li jin;abru mit-tag[mir tal-purifikazzjoni. Il-likwidi li jin;abru g[andhom ji;u trattati u mormija bmod risponsabbli.
