Abstract

Knowing the information about any appliance or a device is very useful as it will help you in making use
of that device in a very effective manner. Getting the hardware information is very useful and important
in terms of security; restrict the misuse of the device, etc. Its practical implementation is found in big
organizations where there are lots of hardware devices which become a huge overload to get the
information instantly to locate it. It can also be used to get the network interface information such as
interface manufacturer, IP address etc.

If we need to get hard disk information, its partitions, and the free space on each partition. You may also
need to get network information and information about Java platform installed on your system. An
excellent use of this application is getting information about the memory of the system and valuable
information such as the device memory address, memory device and so on. This application also fetches
information about the installed Operating System.

Existing System

There are no free atomized tools for getting the system info. The performance is very low. The

present available tools are costlier.

 1. Hardware Interaction Module
In this module application interacts with the hardware and invokes operations on them to
retrieve the required information. This also includes software interaction where the Operating
System parameters are retrieved from the underlying Operating System. This module also
interacts with the Java software installed in the system and retrieves the information about the
installed Java specifications and parameters.

2. GUI Module
This is the Graphical User Interface module. The module is developed using Java Swings. The GUI
composes an interface with the buttons for getting input from the user. There is one text area
which will display the returned results from the above module.
