transformer?
Answer Power transformer: 0 Infodoss
# 1 It carrying high voltage..
It is delta connection TFR.
It is used to transmit the
voltage from generating
sation
to distribution center.

Re: what is the difference between power and distribution transformer?
Answer power transformers are used 0 Santosh
# 3 in transmission network for Jadhav
voltage ratings
of(440kv,220kv,110kv,66Kv)
and are generally
rated above 200MVA.
Distribution Transformers
are used in (33 kv,11kv,6.6
Kv
)voltage levels in
Distribution network and are
generally
rated less than 200 MVA.
Whereas distribution
Transformers are used for
step down
purposes b'cos it is used
for distribution purposes.
It can
be used for Factory's
required power as well as in
society
it can be used for home's
use. It can be used for 11
kv to
230 Voltage purposes. It can
be Design for iron losses
b'coz It is operated for 70
to 80% operation so I2R
losses
are not so much important
where as distribution
transformer are every where
for efficient power
transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions - Distribution Transformers (1936)
Both power and distribution transformers are used for T&D applications (transmission
& distribution). The difference between power and distribution transformers refers to
size & input voltage. Distribution transformers vary between 25 kVA and 10 MVA,
with input voltage between 1 and 36 kV. Power transformers are typically units from
5 to 500 MVA, with input voltage above 36 kV.
A third segment in the transformer market are industrial transformers, used by
industry to purchase electricity at high voltage and step it down for use on site. The
size of industrial transformers varies, but typical units are 1.6, 2.5 and 5 MVA.

difference between power and distribution transformers

For power transformers, core losses are lower than for distribution transformers.

Power transformers are used in transmission network of higher voltages for step-
up and step down application (400 kV, 200 kV, 110 kV, 66 kV, 33kV) and are
generally rated above 200MVA.
Distribution transformers are used for lower voltage distribution networks as a
means to end user connectivity. (11kV, 6.6 kV, 3.3 kV, 440V, 230V) and are
generally rated less than 200 MVA.
Power transformer is used for the transmission purpose at heavy load, high
voltage greater than 33 KV & 100% efficiency. It also having a big in size as
compare to distribution transformer, it used in generating station and
Transmission substation .high insulation level.
The distribution transformer is used for the distribution of electrical energy at low
voltage as less than 33KV in industrial purpose and 440v-220v in domestic
purpose. It work at low efficiency at 50-70%, small size, easy in installation,
having low magnetic losses & it is not always fully loaded.
