My name is Leticia Bothi and I was born in Hidalgo, Mexico, and came to the United

States at age of sixteen, but never had the opportunity to go to school and have an education.

Which education was important goal in my life, also my family principles that I had learn from

my family and culture were important too.

As child I realized how important education was and I had a dream of becoming a

teacher. I remember that I played be a teacher and my friends were students. Unfortunately I had

to forget my dream because I got pregnant at the age of sixteen. Education was one of the most

important goals in my life, so I went back to school to learn English and take to GED classes.

Which it was an achievement to me is when I start my education, I have to learn English to pass

the citizenship test. I am currently enrolled in college and close to the finish line. Education is

very important to have better life and be success in this country. Without education there are no

opportunities to have better job and make more money.

I am proud that I the first of my family that is getting an education, secondary or

postsecondary. To be an educator and encourage others is one of my goals, especially those that

are from other countries. I want to be a good example to them that no matter how challenged it

has been in another country, things are possible. It is just the desire to accomplish a dream. I

want to be able to help those kids that are Spanish speaking. To be a part of their lives and help
them to be a success in this country and maybe be an example for them. I always love to work

and I like interact with children. I have been a Sunday school teacher for years. I love and have

passion to teach what I know, and I want to be a role model to the students. A role model is

important because one day one of those students will say Mrs. Serrano, was my inspiration to

choose a teaching profession. That will make history and will fill our hearts of satisfaction.

Principles and values that I learned in my infancy help go through and good path. I had

been raised from Christian family, so I believe in my heart that is a good. Christian families had

different values, respect others and their opinions, also are free of prejudices. My culture are part

of my life although I been far away of my people for many years. My culture is about be

peaceful, help others and tries to be together and closet to the relatives.

In my opinion I would say that each culture has their values, but in my own culture

family is one of the most important matters. Then education, but some we struggle economically,

so we have to leave education for work. There is no choice and very sad, because in my culture

are very low resources in education. That is the reason why we migrate to other countries or the

most is common is this country and is when family separation comes.

I would say the likes are the way I had raised and belief that we can achieve our dreams

putting God in first place. Dislikes are that I live for many years separate from my parents and

far away from my culture. Which Mexican culture I believe is awesome, also is a poor country

but their live happy lives.

I want to accomplish while teaching the best for Spanish speaking students. I will help

them, which they struggle with the language and need more attention. As my own experience I

know how difficulty is to learn a second language. After all my best satisfaction will be able to
help and be part of this society, which has adopted me as one of their own, and be part of the

pride of my country. My family can say that all dreams can be true, and all goals met.
