Kelir in Narrative Psychology Perspective

ABSTRACT
Creativity is important in life today. Creativity can be instilled from an early age. One of
them is by holding a creative home community for the children around who will become a
creative young generation to advance the country of Indonesia. This study was conducted to
reveal the meaning of life is planted and expose themselves to children Creative Home Wadas
Kelir community (RKWK) in Purwokerto, Central Java. Data were collected by interviews on
five subjects selected by purposive sampling. Results from this study revealed that there are three
values that are the source of the meaning of life in RKWK namely: 1) use values or creative
work; 2) use values appreciation; and 3) use values attitude. RKWK community children have a
positive, self-evident identity with they were in the past dimension of crisis and commitment.

1. Preliminary creating children who are creative, work and

Creativity is never limited space and time.
Creativity can be born from anyone and
anywhere. The element of creativity makes
humans unique and different from other
beings. With creativity, human beings are
able to deal with environmental
circumstances outside of themselves so that
humans are able to survive in the face of
dynamical tools and cultural challenges. But
creativity can not form instantly. Creative
generation requires facilities in the form of
training, development, and supportive
environments.
Creative home Wadas Kelir (RKWK) dare to
be present in the midst of the siege of
poverty, underdevelopment, and the low
level of public education at that time.
RKWK comes as a means to develop
children's creativity. They are capable of
are able to compete at the national level by
publishing their works in local and national
newspapers. Since its establishment in 2012,
many awards have been achieved such as
poetry reading contest, writing poetry, short
story writing, and filling events from sub-
district to national level.
Research on Creative House Wadas Kelir
still rarely done. As far as the author
searches, the study of the research object has
been carried out by Titi Anisatul Laely
(2016) with the title "Language Intelligence
Development In Children Through Creative
Games at Home Creative Wadas Kelir
Purwokerto". In his research, Laely
discovered that there are three forms of
creative game in the development of
language intelligence in RKWK, ie word
play, sentence game, and discourse game.
From this game model, children can create

and produce a poem, short stories,
experience stories, fairy tales and other
language skills. This research is still
descriptive-explorative and focuses its study
on the field of language education alone so
that it has not touched the study of the child's
personality and has not looked for the impact
on the social life of the community.
The research that will be conducted in this
proposal is certainly different from previous
research. This study not only stops at the
level of description and exploration of the
language intelligence education in children,
but also further analyzes of the formation
and development of the child's personality,
especially narrative identity through the
narrative of narrative psychology. With
different perspectives, it is expected to
achieve different results, more
comprehensive and deep.
Through reading and creating stories, stories,
and narrative children are invited to
internalize the social and cultural values of
society in order to shape the character of
human beings, personality, an d have a nice
identity. This is especially interesting when
researchers explore the construction of self-
identity that can transform ordinary children
into extraordinary.
Establishment of self-identity in children
RKWK worthy to be studied further lewar
narrative psychology glasses. Narrative
psychology tries to understand the meaning
constructed by individuals as part of a
system of self-culture through the study of
the formation and personality through
narrative or story that eventually can form a
human life (Takwin, 2007).
This study aims to explore the meaning of
life in RKWK children who helped shape
their identity. In addition, this study aims to
find out how the identity of children RKWK
formed and developed.

2. Methods
Subject. Subjects in this study were five
children who have joined the community of
Creative Home Wadas Kelir since the first
stand. The whole subject of women aged 14-
15 years. Subject selection is done by using
purposive sampling technique to take
children who have been joined in RKWK
since the first stand and have works that have
been published in local and national
newspapers and posted.
Research Design. This study uses a
qualitative approach, namely research
procedures that produce descriptive data in
the form of written or oral words of people
and behavior that can be observed (Moleong,
2010). Perspective used in this research is
narrative psychology. As Prince said,
narrative psychology is one of many new
research domains that expand the natalogical
study of how stories shape human life
(Takwin, 2007).
Instrument and Measurement. This study
uses interview and observation techniques.
Researchers conducted interviews on a
sample to get a description of his life story
and then penel iti ask questions to dig deeper
into the stories and the meaning of life
construct a narrative idetitas subject (Smith,
2014). Observation is descriptive explorative
that aims to observe the activities and facts
that occur in the field. In addition to
interviews and observations, researchers also
collect literary works that have been made
children RKWK community.
Procedure. Observations made during the
research are in research sites. Researchers
observe and participate in RKWK activities.
Researchers also observed and documented
the works of artificial RKWK children.
Researchers conducted interviews on a
sample that has been determined, to obtain
other information as the reinforcement of
research data, researchers conducted FGD

(Focus Group Discussion) on volunteers,
and interviewed the founder of RKWK.
3. Results
Based on the data obtained, it can be
illustrated narratives of children in the course
of his life before and after joining RKWK,
which can be divided into three sequences, ie
the early stages that describe the state of the
subject before joining the community
RKWK, then the middle stages that describe
the state of the subject when Join the RKWK
community, and the final three stages that
explain the changes experienced by the
subject after joining the RKWK. The
explanation is found in Table 1.
Overall, the fifth narrative of the subject is
progressive, meaning in the direction of
progress. This process of identity formation
is influenced by the meaning of life that is in
RKWK.
Meaning of Life
The meaning of life is something that
someone perceives as important, valuable
and believed to be true and gives special
value to a person so worthy of being a goal
in his life. The meaning of life shows that in
it also contained the purpose of life that is
the things that need to be achieved and
fulfilled.

There are three values that become the
source of meaning in life in RKWK, namely:
creative value, experiental values, and
attitude values.
RKWK strongly emphasizes the importance
of working for someone. Someone will be
considered to exist when he has a work. The
work shows the existence of a person in the
world. RKWK tried to give birth to children
who were mentally educated, not workers.
The value of work or creative value becomes
the spirit that drives every human activity.
This spirit breathes power that gives the
ability to overcome every challenge or
limitation facing a person.
Values relate to one's acceptance of the
world. RKWK opens children's awareness
that the world is vast, beautiful, and full of
surprises. It is this awareness that opens the
horizon for the spirit of creativity and the
spirit of the children's life to continue their
education and achieve their dreams. Children
are invited to dream about anything.
Children are directed to 'get out' from the
narrowness of Wadas Kelir Karangklesem.
Activities and learning activities are directed
at the game that draws the world around it.

depth of appreciation of children to the

Explore the world wide, seek experience as
much as possible, without losing the love of
his homeland, namely Wiras Kelir and
Indonesia. RKWK keeps the children from
living in a box of boxes. RKWK also instills
that everything that exists in this world is
nothing to nothing. Children are taught to
respect and treat all beings with respect
because each has benefits and contributes to
life.
The value of the work and the value of
appreciation provides a direction for the
value of attitude of children must be able to
continue to work. The mentality of a worker
who can not run out of ideas. Creative it
sometimes forces us to become crazy. Crazy
in the sense of always thinking with different
perspectives and perspectives in the face of
problems. The world's RWWK awareness to
children brings children positive thinking in
life. RKWK tries to emend these values so
they are expected to play a role in shaping
meaning for the lives of their students. These

three values become the meaning of life
which is then slowly internalized and
becomes the basis for the construction of
RKWK children's identity.
Construction of Self Identity
The formation of self-identity is a process of
combining the experiences, beliefs, and
identifications that have in childhood to a
unique and increasingly more or less
coherent union, which will give the early
adult both a sense of interconnectedness to
the past and the direction for the future
come. This means that the identity formation
there are aspects of childhood such as
experience, confidence, and identification is
the basis of identity formation in early
adulthood that will provide direction for the
future and be a hook thread with the past.
Marcia (1993) states that the formation of
identity can be described by identity status
based on the presence or absence of
exploration (crisis) and commitment. The
construction of children's self-identity on
RKWK can be seen as follows:
A. Exploration (Crisis)
Exploration known as the crisis is a period of
desire to seek out, investigate options and
actively ask questions seriously, to reach a
decision about the goals to be achieved,
values, and beliefs.
The exploration stage at RKWK is done with
various games. One of the principles and
methods chosen in the formation and
development of RKWK children's self-
identity is "learning to play, learn to play".
Creative games collected in language games,
logic, color, motion, practiced in order to
explore the potential, abilities, interests, and
talents of children. These six games refer to
the types of human intelligence. This method
aims to introduce oneself to self-
understanding. Children are invited to

explore the advantages and disadvantages of
himself, as well as his interests and talents.
The learning model of play is chosen as an
exciting method for children not to get
bored. In addition, children also do not lose
their childhood and playing life. Children are
invited to put gadgets, leaving the virtual
world to find life in the real world.
This exploration seeks to open the awareness
of the deeper personality of the children.
Consciousness is not only built into the level
of being to be, but at the level of being
allowed consciousness (awareness of breadth
becomes). This kind of freedom is brought
by dreams, and literature and art, the poetry,
short stories, fairy tales, music, dance,
painting, and drama. Through the
development of this field, the children are
invited free imagination and out of him for
free adventure.
The emotional pressures of children
perceived in these games will lead them to
their interests and talents. The emergence of
feelings of joy, anxiety, enthusiasm, and a
tendency to the choices he will take in the
future. Certain activities then become
choices and trends. Options slowly begin to
be determined.
The exploration stage can not take place
quickly. Moreover, adolescence is a phase of
growth with emotional turmoil vigorously to
try. Unstable times with various choices.
Therefore, this stage takes place dynamically
and in a long process.
B. Commitment
Commitment is a period of making a
relatively fixed choice of aspects of a
person's identity and engaging in activities
that significantly lead to the embodiment
already taken.
The commitment of children began to take
shape after a long exploration period.
RKWK children make choices, ideals,

dreams, beliefs, goals and values. Children
find a detailed, clear, and accurate
understanding of it.
Activity is now beginning to be directed to
the selected identity spec. This commitment
leads to the expression and realization of the
choices that have been made. Again the work
becomes the most dominant event here.
Creativity continues to be developed
according to the field of each child.
Emotions are expressed with confidence,
stability and optimism for the future.
Awareness of being allowed to be stronger
and stronger.
The children begin to identify themselves
with important figures as role models and
idols, one of whom is Pak Heru Kurniawan,
as the founder of RKWK. In terms of
creativity, he is the mecca of children. Mr.
Heru's spontaneity, creativity and ability in
this creative life that flows in the blood of
the children. The values conveyed by Mr.
Heru become the guidance for the children in
working and achieving their desired dream
or identity, such as "creative to death" or
"beyond your limitations". Characters of
great writers such as Chairil Anwar, Sutardji
Calzoum Bachri, Sapardi Djoko Damono
also became the idol and qibla figure in the
style of authorship.
Children begin to project their future. First
through dreams and dreams. The chosen
aspect of identity will be reflected in the
ability to project the children of RKWK into
the future and describe the types of activities
during the next few years. Children make a
map of life.
It is no less important in this stage is adana
reason creativity in maintaining
commitment. This creativity is blown in
order to become a stronghold in the face of
temptation and challenge. Children are all
right to go crazy, as long as it's always
positive and good. The madness in looking at
things sees things from rich perspectives and

perspectives so that life is crisper, fresh, and
colorful. Do not forget to play, the child's
world is a world of play. But take something
from the game. Learning life. Because the
world is wide then do not be confined in the
cell phone screen box of boxes. Creative
reasoning is trying to create a human
commitment, namely humans who have
unlimited creativity.
4. Discussion and Conclusion
Discussion. RKWK is a creative house
engaged in the development kreati v itas
children particularly in the field of language.
Reasoning and awareness of children's
creativity is built through education and
game language patterns, numbers, logic,
color, art, and movement fun. The creative
process of language that occurs in RKWK
then plays a role in the construction of self-
identity that changes the lives of children
from before and after the presence of
RKWK.
The construction of self-identity begins with
the seeding of the meaning of life RKWK
which includes the value of work or creative
as the spirit of life breaker, the value of
appreciation of the infinite world, and the
value of the attitude of goodness as a
guardian of human self. The process of self-
formation is passed through exploration that
is done with self-understanding, the search
for talent through creative games, activity
and experience enrichment. The stages of
commitment as a step towards identity
maturity are tried and maintained through the
belief in dreams, future optimism, and the
value of 'unlimited creativity' in response to
deadlocks, and life's challenges.
Conclusions. In forming identity, children
are facilitated RKWK in order to experience
the process of exploration and commitment
that is accompanied by appreciation of
creative value so that the creative, character,
optimistic, and high martial arts are formed.
