Our Mission: To provide our students with a challenging standard of education with a fully integrated curriculum which develops academic and social skills in a stimulating
technologically modern, enjoyable and secure environment.
As in previous years, we will continue to implement both internal (IST) and external (MAP) standardized
tests twice a year to accurately measure and evaluate our students progress and the effectiveness of our
educational programs, resources and procedures.
We continue to employ external, internationally recognized assessments to ensure that the curricula we
teach match updated challenging international education standards of the 21 st century and to ensure that
our students are on par with their peers in schools around the world.
Furthermore, as outlined in our Vision, we seek to provide holistic education which builds exemplary
character in addition to academic excellence. To this end, we will once again offer a comprehensive
activities program throughout the year. Our students will be afforded the opportunity to participate in
events of a sporting, spiritual, social and cultural nature aimed at developing them into confident, well-

We truly believe that communication is the key to a successful educational experience. Together, we will
continue to improve the quality of our school and provide the best for the children of MJIS. Education is a

Academics
Amid the hectic daily life and the burdens shouldered by the parents, which prevent them from
sufficiently following up their children and keeping an eye on them to monitor their academic
progress, especially in their early years which form their future, it was imperative for Ma'arif to
think of practical solutions to facilitate this process.
As a result of thorough study and hard work, Ma'arif for Education and Training developed Ma'arif
Learning Gateway https://mlg.maarif.com.sa. This program enables parents to follow up their
childrens academic progress and assess their academic performance.

In line with our school vision to create an atmosphere which encourages high educational achievements, we will be
implementing the following policies:
General Conduct
1. All students must abide by the laws and regulations of Islam and the school code of conduct whenever at
school and whilst using the school transport services.
2. All students must abide by any additional/specific rules and instructions related to conduct during all after
school activities and educational/recreational trips outside of the school.
3. No students are allowed to leave the school premises during school timings except through the official
school system involving official, documented approval of both the school administration and the
parent/guardian of the students concerned.
4. Students are not allowed to bring mobile phones, laptops, tablets, cameras or any other digital/smart device
to school without specific authorization from the school administration and parental approval. Any non-
compliance of this means that all financial losses caused due to theft or damage will be the sole
responsibility of the student and parent/guardian concerned. Furthermore, the school administration has
the full right to confiscate any unauthorized devices brought to school by any student and hold on to them
until parents/guardians are contacted and appropriate disciplinary action taken.
5. Students are not allowed to bring footballs, basketballs, tennis balls, bats, rackets etc. to school.
6. Unauthorized and unsupervised playing will result in the balls/equipment being confiscated and appropriate
disciplinary action.
7. The school administration reserves the right to suspend (and in serious cases, even expel) any student
caught in possession of or attempting to spread, via any means, obscene material of any form (images, texts,
videos etc.) inside the school premises or on the school buses. Each case will be studied individually and the
level of punitive action will be in accordance with the severity of the offence committed.
8. Students are strictly forbidden from bringing any dangerous items to school such as knives, chemicals, highly
flammable material etc. that may pose a potential threat to the health and safety of the people in the
school. Any student caught violating this will face strict disciplinary action that may also involve the police.
9. The school administration reserves the right to send students home if they attend school without the official
school uniform, or boys who arrive to school with excessively long hair (beyond the ears and back of the
neck), or partly shaven heads or any other extreme styles that do not conform with Islamic modesty.
10. Any incident of vandalism or theft of school, student or staff property will be investigated thoroughly. If a
student is proven guilty, the parents/guardians will bear the responsibility of any financial consequences of
repair or replacement of the damaged or lost item.

Our Mission: To provide our students with a challenging standard of education with a fully integrated curriculum which develops academic and social skills in a stimulating

11. Parents/guardians can request to see their sons/daughters Mid-year or End-of-year exam paper after it has
been marked, but under no circumstances will they be given the paper to take home nor will they be
allowed to take a copy.
12. The general policy for progress tests is that no re-sit will be provided for students who underperform.
13. Any student who does not submit assigned projects by the set deadline without a valid reason, risks losing
marks for late submission. Failure to produce a project will result in zero marks recorded on the report card.
14. Any student caught cheating or even attempting to cheat during any formal assessment, by whatever
means, may have all their marks nullified for that particular assessment and also lose the right to a re-sit.
Each case will be judged individually and the level of punitive action will be in accordance with the extent of
the violation committed.
15. The overall pass mark for any grade year is 50% per subject, after which the student will automatically be
promoted to the next grade. Any student who fails to achieve this in any subject, will be given an
opportunity to re-sit their Mid-Year and/or End-of-year examination after all examinations have been
completed for that academic year. The marks achieved in the re-sit will then be used to replace the original
marks achieved in that subject. Failure to achieve 50% after the re-sit examinations may result in the student
not being promoted to the next grade. Each case will be studied individually and judged accordingly by the
school administration to decide the most appropriate course of action.
16. Every student is entitled to a single copy of each textbook/workbook for his/her grade as per allocated by
the school administration, one school bag and one set of P.E. uniform. The school administration is not
responsible for lost/stolen or damaged equipment once the student has received the items mentioned.
17. Most of the textbooks issued in grades Seven, Nine and Eleven are two year course books and so will not be
issued a second time in grades Eight, Ten and Twelve respectively. It is the responsibility of the student to
ensure that these books remain in good condition throughout the two years they are intended for.
18. All items mentioned above will only be issued to the student after the complete fees for the first semester
have been paid in full.
19. Parents/guardians must purchase and ensure that their sons/daughters wear the school uniform supplied by
the school.

20. Parents/guardians are responsible to ensure that their sons/daughters arrive at school on time (or are ready
to be picked up by the school bus from the agreed location). All students should be at school, at the very
latest, a few minutes before the commencement of the morning assembly or morning tutorial.
21. The earliest time students can arrive, or be dropped off at school is half an hour before the commencement
of the morning assembly or morning tutorial as the supervisors do not arrive before this time. The school
administration is not responsible for the health and safety of any student inside the school before this time.
22. For students who arrive via private transport, it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to ensure that
their sons/daughters actually enter the school premises and via the official gates designated for their
grade/section.
23. The school administration is responsible for the health and safety of all students once they have entered the
school premises at the correct time in the morning until they leave at the official home time.
24. For students who arrive via the school buses, the school administration is responsible for their health and
safety from the moment they enter the school bus until they are dropped off after school at their homes.
25. Parents/guardians who do not use the school buses must ensure that their sons/daughters are picked up
immediately (or leave themselves in cases where they are old enough to walk home or use a taxi) at home
time as supervising staff will only remain on duty for a maximum of half an hour after the official home time.
26. The parents/guardians must inform the school administration if their son/daughter suffers from any sort of
mental or physical illness and provide the relevant student counsellor with all necessary medical
information/reports/medication etc. so the correct action can be taken promptly in case of an emergency.
27. If a student becomes sick or incurs a minor injury during school timings and whilst on the school premises,
he/she will receive basic first aid by trained members of staff. The parents/guardians will also be notified
and given the option of deciding whether their son/daughter should continue the day at school or arrange
for them to be collected and taken home early.
28. If a student incurs a serious injury or becomes seriously ill, needing emergency medical treatment, the
school administration will contact the parent/guardian via the contact details supplied during registration
and arrange for the student to be taken immediately using staff or school transport, or via an ambulance if
deemed necessary, to the hospital of the parents/guardians choice.
29. If the parent/guardian does not respond immediately, the student will be taken to the nearest hospital
(Jedani Hospital if the issue occurs at school) for treatment.
30. In all cases, the parent/guardian is responsible to cover any costs due to treatment at any hospital.
Fees
31. The school administration reserves the right to withhold all official documentation such as report cards,
ministry cards, CIE certificates, statements of results and student files if the complete school fees have not
been settled within the dates/periods stated in the contract for student enrolment in schools document
which states that the first instalment should be paid before the first semester commences and the second
instalment before the second semester commences.

time, no opportunity will be given to change or drop a CIE subject.
53. Grade 11 and 12 students study the CIE curriculum. If a student wants only a school certificate, he/she must
attend the same lessons and study the same CIE curriculum, however, separate exams will be prepared for
them assessing core topics only.
54. The minimum requirement for a student to be allowed to study a CIE subject at AS-level in grade 11 is that
he/she achieves no less than a grade B at IGCSE.
55. In order to be allowed to register for the coming May/June Cambridge examinations as internal school
candidates, students must achieve a minimum of 50% in any AS-level or A2 subject during the mid-year
examinations. (For cases where a student scores above 50% in some subjects and below in others, he/she
will be given an opportunity for a re-sit examination in those subjects and then, based on the overall results,

the school administration will decide whether or not to allow the student to register as an internal
candidate).
56. Students who score less than 50% in the mid-year examinations of grades 11-12 will have the following
options;
Appear for immediate re-sit examinations.
Register at the British Council as external candidates for the May/June session.
Defer their registration to the October/November session of the same year.
Opt out of the Cambridge examinations system but continue to study the subjects that will appear
on their end-of-year report cards. (This option must be accompanied by written approval from
parents/guardians and the student must continue to attend school lessons full time.)
57. After the mid-year break, all grade 11-12 students must continue to attend school full time during which the
remainder of all AS or A2 syllabi will be completed followed by revision and past paper practice sessions until
one week prior to the Mock Exams.
58. During Term 2, all grade 11-12 students will appear for mock examinations in all AS/A2 subjects. These
examinations will be conducted in a similar style and standard to the actual Cambridge examinations,
including practical examinations. The results of all of these examinations will be recorded as end-of-year
examination marks in the students final report cards.
59. Immediately after the mock examinations, a new lesson timetable will be implemented for all grade 11-12
students to review their mock examination performances in detail and continue revision/reinforcement
classes until the final CIE examination in May/June. This new timetable will consist of block sessions of two-
three continuous lessons for CIE subject only. During this time, the students can:

accompanied by written parent/guardian approval)

continue that subject at A2 level in grade 12.(in cases where a student achieves a mixture of high and low
grades, his/her overall level will be judged by the school administration for acceptance into grade 12)
61. Grade 11-12 students can apply for a school leaving permit from the school administration. The permit will
only be issued after official written approval is provided by the parent/guardian of the student. The permit
will remain in school with the students counsellor and vice principal who reserve the right to not allow
grade 11-12 students from using the permit and leaving the school during the school day.
If a grade 11-12 student does not have any lessons at the start of the school day, he/she may arrive late,
according to when their first lesson begins, but must report their presence to the school administration upon
arrival before attending their class.
We believe that these policies will help bring out the best in our students and instill in them not only a greater sense
of competitiveness, but a stronger and renewed determination to achieve the outstanding results they are capable of.
We wish your and our sons the very best and we will as always endeavor to fully support them in every way we can.

Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities provide a setting to become involved and to interact with other
students, which in turn has a positive impact on the students emotional, intellectual and
inter-personal development. By working together with other individuals, students learn to
negotiate, communicate, manage conflict and lead others. Taking part in these out-of-
classroom activities helps students to understand the importance of critical thinking skills,
time management and academic, physical and intellectual competence. Working outside of
the classroom with diverse groups of individuals allows for students to gain more self-
confidence and multicultural awareness.
