Objective:
Create a 1 - 2 video of a live coded Pd session.
Details/expectations:
Therell be quite a few steps in realizing this assignment, to wit:
1. On Mac, youre going to download Soundflower, an application that gives you the ability to
route audio within your computer.
2. Open Audio MIDI Setup in Applications. Then, create a new Aggregate (which includes
multiple inputs) or Multi-Output Device that includes output from both Soundflower (2 ch.) and your
Built-In Output.
3. Youll need to capture a screen recording of your live coded performance. On Mac, use
QuickTime and select File > New Screen Recording.
5. Open Reaper, select the Audio Preferences, and select the Aggregate or Multi-Output device
that you created in step 2.
6. Create a new track, record enable, and turn on monitoring. Once you hit record, you should be
able to hear your Pd sounds coming through Reaper, while recording the output on your newly created
track.
7. Perform your live coding session, simultaneously capturing your screens video and audio
using QT and Reaper.
8. Save your completed QT video and open it in a new Reaper track. Sync the audio and video
and render as a .mov or .mp4 file.
Rubric:
10 = 4.0 exceeds expectations, well-crafted, well-mixed, no audible distortion, great Pd patches
9 = 3.7
8 = 3.3
7 = 3.0 maybe some distortion, clipping, some errors in Pd, but not a lot
6 = 2.7
5 = 2.3
4 = 2.0 leaves a great deal to be desired, might not be a working patch
3 = 1.7
2 = 1.3
1 = 1.0 patch/audio not working, finished at the last minute
0 = 0.0 work that fails to meet any/all expectations
