Use the skills

As organisations move to digital transformation, one of
the biggest challenges they face is skills availability.
But Tikiri Wandurangala, senior consultant at
Lenovo Data Centre Group for Server Systems
EMEA, believes companies could be ignoring a
potential gold mine of untapped skills.
Dont ignore the skills that you have, he
says. Dont overvalue new ideas and undervalue
experience.
Wandurangala points out that the biggest stumbling
block that all organisations have in moving to new
technology is the availability of skills to make it
happen.
The existing silos within the organisation are often
viewed as negative and thus ignored. But there are
some amazing skills right there, and if companies can
tap into these, they could transform the business.
Skills and availability has been the consistent
refrain in the IT industry almost since its inception,
and there is a constant drive to develop or hire people
with new-age skills.
But dont overlook the fact they there is a mix
of skills required, Wandurangala says. All the best
