This countrys growing dependence on opioids for pain relief is out of control. Its having a
devastating effect on our communities. Their inability to find a solution should be a concern
to all of us. I am reaching out for your help on a matter that I consider fundamental for our
personal health choices going forward. Medical marijuana presents a legitimate opportunity
to improve the lives of tens of thousands of patients in Missouri -- if only their physicians
were allowed to recommend it.

A 2014 survey by WebMD found 67% of physicians believe medical marijuana should be a legal
medical option. Data further confirm that states with medical cannabis laws are experiencing
nearly 25 percent fewer opioid overdose deaths. The doctors believe this is because chronic pain
patients can substitute cannabis for opioids. Its time to allow doctors to decide what is best for
their patients. Providing remedies shouldnt be a crime.

For the last several years I quietly supported efforts to legislatively legalize Medical Marijuana in
Missouri. But, Ive found that attempting to get the Missouri legislature to understand, let alone
act without endless revisions and self-defeating amendments, made these efforts futile. Even
though 68% of Missourians approve of its use for medical needs, we have a legislative process
that fails us.

I have recently aligned with a group called New Approach Missouri

(www.newapproachmissouri.com). They are clearly the most prolific and professional
organization with the will and the capacity to achieve our goal of putting this measure on the Fall
2018 ballot in Missouri. Their disciplined petition gathering process is unmatched.

I need your help and I need it quickly.

We are facing a hard October 2 fundraising deadline. Every dollar we raise by then will trigger
100% matching dollars from two national organizations. Its an offer that is too good to pass up
and New Approach Missouri will use those dollars to secure the petition signatures we need to
place this issue on the November 2018 ballot.

While I have personally made significant financial commitment to this effort, we need to develop
a broad base of donors to add legitimacy to the effort.

Furthermore, contributions of $5k or more can be held in escrow and returned if the
campaign does not hit their fundraising goal and receive matching national funds.
