BELL RINGER: Simple, independent activity that students work on as soon as they
enter the classroom. It must have a connection to the lesson.

Anticipatory Set: Presented at the very beginning of the lesson to get students'
attention, activate prior knowledge, and prepare them for the day's learning.
I will present the students with cookies.
I will talk about how I have 12 cookies and I am giving out one cookie to each student.
Ask them if they have ever shared cookies.
Talk about how giving someone a cookie is subtracting and taking a cookie is adding.

Students will learn about adding and subtracting (using the marker board
and magnetic cookies)
Teacher will pass out personal marker board and students will do group
work with the questions on the board. (If Miss Lee has 3 cookies and her
friend gives her 6 cookies how many cookies does she have?)

Students will then paint cookies on plates
