2 AIMS
The aim of this course is to give students basic knowledge on linguistics covering
that concepts of language, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, language
change, language varieties and language families. Students are required to do
exercises and write summary.

3 OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course students should be able to:
3.1 Explain the concepts of language
3.2 Explain how speech sounds are produced and how they are classified;
3.3 Explain the concepts of phonology and perform simple phonological analysis.
3.4 Explain the concepts of morphology
3.5 Explain the concepts of syntax
3.6 Explain the changes that languages undergo, varieties of language and
describe some main language families of the world.
