Course Title CARE OF CLIENTS WITH PROBLEMS IN CELLULAR ABERRATIONS, ACUTE BIOLOGIC CRISIS
INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND DISASTER NURSING
Course Description: The course is designed to provide students the cognitive skills, technical skills,
interpersonal skills and ethical and legal skills in Perioperative Nursing.
Course Objectives : The course aims to inculcate the basic concepts in the understanding of Operating
Room Techniques and intra-operative procedures essential for the total care of surgical
patients.
Description of the Learners : The students are on their fourth year level of nursing education having
gone through the three and a half year preparatory and have successfully
passed the necessary requirements for admission to the nursing course.
Description of the Setting: The clinical exposure will take place at the Operating Room of Cagayan Valley
Medical Center, a tertiary hospital located at Carig, Tuguegarao City.
Length of Exposure : The rotation for the Operating Room is scheduled two days weekly for two(2)
weeks equivalent to forty-eight(48) hours of related learning experience in each
rotated area. The students duty is scheduled in the morning shift (7:00am-
3:00pm).
Method of Evaluation:
Daily post-conferences and/or ARAS are facilitated before going off duty for students to share
their experiences, difficulties, insights and resolve conflicts brought about and encountered in
the exposure with the aim of maximizing the learning process.
Student performance and RLE grade will be evaluated and obtained on the basis of the following:

ACTIVITIES:
a. Pre-conference helps clarify and direct activities for the day; initial coaching done by the Clinical
Instructor, and demonstration of clinical skills.
b. Hands-on this is the actual experience being an Operating Room nurse either being a SCRUB NURSE
or a CIRCULATING NURSE through the guidance always of the Clinical Instructor. Discussions shall be
conducted anytime where instance warrants.
c. Post-conference evaluates and gives feedback for the days learnings and problems encountered
i. Group processing should be done in order to attest problems and avoid some problems to
occur.
d. Written Evaluation( Rating System) through this activity, assessment on the performances of the
students as well as their co- workers will be identified that will tend to further be checked for future re-
evaluation and identification of their strengths and weaknesses in the area.
