Understand what Canada was like in the early 20 th Century 5 Minutes Assess Canadas independence, and relationship with Britain Lightening Lecture 10 minutes Students fill in the blanks on SV 15 RMB Summaries 30 Minutes - Students write summaries of 1 of 3 events | Teach 3 new words to peers - Alaska Boundary Dispute / Boer War / Naval Service Bill - I collect at the end of class, then students select best summary next class, which I print out for their notes. Exit Slip - How do the three events we studied show Canada growing in independence? 10 minutes - Describe how each event contributed to Canadas growing independence.
