The dugong is a slow, graceful creature that lives under the sea. Its body is grey
and bronze in colour. It has a darker on top than below. Its head is round, with
small eyes and a large fleshy snout. The dugong swims slowly using its whale-
like fluked tail. Its front flippers are used for balancing and turning in the water.
The dugong surfaces to breathe every 8 minutes. The dugong grazes on sea
grass and marine algae. As it has poor eyesight, it finds sea grass using the
coarse bristles that cover its snout. However, it has a sharp hearing. It
communicates with many sounds like soft squeaks, chirps, and loud barking
sound.

Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.

Chow was a businessman who lived in a village. He was rich but everybody
called him a miser. He never gave any money to help those who were poor or sick.

When Chow had saved a lot of money, he said, The people in this village live
in small terraced houses. I am going to build the biggest house in the village. Then
everybody will know that I am the richest man here.

Chow used all his money to build a big bungalow. It had many rooms with glass
windows. The floor was made of marble and the bungalow was surrounded by a high
fence.

When the bungalow was ready, Chow moved in. He slept in his big bedroom
on the first floor. At about midnight, a cat went inside the house. It accidentally
knocked into a shelf and an empty can fell onto its head. The cat jumped up and
down, trying to free its head from the can. The cat knocked against many things and
made a lot of noise. Clink! Clank! Clonk!

Chow jumped out of bed and quickly rushed out of the house. He ran down
the main road screaming, Help! Theres a ghost in my house! Dont let it catch me!.

Chow refused to enter his bungalow again. He tried to sell the house, but no
one would buy it. Chow had no money and no place to stay. Feeling sorry for him,
the villagers let him stay in an old wooden hut near a farm. It was the smallest building
in the village.
