After takeoff, when diverting to Mendoza (MDZ/SAME), fly the
route shown as "Takeoff Alternate Route". This routing applies to
all engine and engine failure departures and will provide maximum
terrain clearance. See SA(LO) 13.
NOTE: MEA on Route VB684 / B684 is FL160. Near MLG FL180
is charted to overfly the TMA at MLG, not terrain.
Total route distance is 348 NM.
To ensure terrain clearance for this alternate routing, the minimum
altitude to leave the Santiago (AMB) VOR is FL110. Continue climb
at best angle to a minimum of FL160, 10 NM prior to ICO VOR. If
flying an engine failure procedure to a holding pattern, flightcrews
must continue to climb to FL110 in the depicted holding pattern and
then proceed enroute climbing to FL160.

DESTINATION ALTERNATE ROUTE


When diverting from a landing at Santiago to Mendoza (MDZ/
SAME), fly the route shown as "Destination Alternate Route". See
SA(LO) 13. This routing provides the shortest distance to Mendoza.
The portion between SUPRA and ESITO is an approved direct route
between waypoints. This route is south of the "No Fly Zone" depicted
on SA (HI)-2.
Total route distance is 185 NM.
To ensure terrain clearance for this alternate routing, the minimum
altitude to leave the Santiago (AMB) VOR is FL170. Otherwise,
observe the MEAs shown along the routing.
If a depressurization occurs prior to the Decision Point, return in an
emergency descent direct to SUPRA. If a depressurization occurs
after passing the Decision Point, continue in an emergency
descent direct to ESITO.

ATC PROCEDURES FOR TAXIING WITH


REDUCED VISIBILITY (LVP)

Applicatio n

Low Visibility Procedure will be applied while operations with TDZ RVR is at or less
than 550m and/or ceiling is less than 200 ft. The flight crews are responsible to
verify their minimums of operation.

Visual Aids

The airport has Taxiway lights to allow the aircraft movement to and from the
Runways. Taxiway lights are on the inside by the ILS sensitive area and these
alternate green and yellow, while the ones outside of the ILS sensitive area are
green. Taxiways N, J & R do not have Taxiway centerline lights. The airport has 5
marked positions located on the west side of Taxiway A. These markings consist of
a black number on a 10 ft (3m) diameter pink circle and framed by a black and white
circle. The markings are 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. The 7 and 9 markings are more
illuminated, consisting of 3 yellow lights running perpendicular to the Taxiway
centerline lights.

Monitoring System ATS (SIVIGATS)

The airport counts with Surface Movement RADAR (SMR) which covers the Runways
and Taxiways. The SMR has the capability to deliver aircraft position and vehicles
that are on the Taxiways and Runways. At the same time it is configured to
deliver alarms of the sensitive and critical ILS areas to protect and guard them.
The SMR can be used to deliver directional information from Taxiways to the
Runways.

Departing Aircraft

Departing aircraft will receive directional information to the departing Runway.


The use of FOLLOW ME vehicles will be requested by flight crews or when ATC
deems necessary. Take-off or in the air notification will be omitted unless
requested by ATC.

Arriving Aircraft

Arriving aircraft will leave Runway 17L using Taxiway A and receive directional
information until the arriving aircraft are at parking stands. The use of FOLLOW
ME vehicles will be requested by flight crews or when ATC deems necessary. The
notification of "clear of runway" can be omitted unless requested by ATC.
