the Louisiana state courts and the Supreme Court when he was detained by
private detectives at a railroad station.
In Louisiana, they passed a law (the Separate Car Act) that requires separate
railroads for both blacks and whites. Homer Plessy was half European/half
Black. He purchased a ticket for the whites train, but was forced to partake in
a test case. He was classified as a black man as was arrested for violating the
law.

Plessy lost the case, with the separate but Equal decision turned against him.
This also caused the strong mandated segregation laws everywhere in the
United States.
o Jim Crow Laws
Laws enforcing racial segregation in the Southern United States.
The phase Jim Crow came a song Jump Jim Crow (or Jump Jim Joes) that
was sung and danced in blackface by white performers.
These laws started in 1890 and were still enforced until 1965.
o Brown v. Board of Education

segregation in public schools
The court case helped overturned the Plessy v. Ferguson.

facilities are inherently unequal.

each situation may play out differently. It easy to tell through words, not through actions, and
each person has their own views on the situation.
