Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will show the prepared PowerPoint presentation with the students
and as the students they will help them understand their numbers lesson. After, the teacher will go over the first
five numbers as shown in the PowerPoint presentation with the students. This lesson should take about 45
minutes to an hour to do with the students. The purpose of this lesson is to teach the students the relationship
with numbers and quantities using one to one correspondence. In order to do that the teacher will start with the
number 1 show one to the students, say it out loud, and refer to the PowerPoint with what one looks like than
using skittles or jelly beans the teacher will than correspond the number one to one jelly bean. This will help
the students to know what one of something is. Than the teacher will repeat the process with two, three, four,
and five. The teacher will than break the students into five groups and each group will get an iPad to work on.
In their groups they will have to find pictures online with a certain number of objects to match with their
assigned numbers. The teacher will be walking around to facilitate the activity and help with any questions the
students have or need help with the iPads.

After each group found the required number of objects to correspondent with the number they have the class
will get back together as a whole and each group will share the objects they found to correspondent with the
number they have. Each student will then be given a worksheet with different objects in groups and they will
than have to match the correct number to the objects to let the teacher know they can match numbers to objects
to show they understand different amounts. The final product will be used to help the teacher see how far along
the students are with corresponding numbers to objects, so that the teacher can either spend more time teaching
this lesson or making it a bit more challenging for the students. A good way to get the students to learn at a
higher thinking level is to get them to create their own objects with crayons and colored pencils that way they
would have to think about real life objects they see every day and correspond this to the numbers they learned
in class. At the conclusion of the lesson the teacher will review what was learned today and ask questions for
any students who may need additional help or dont understand the lesson. They will use what they learned

today to build on for higher number in the future. Teacher will grade the worksheets and provide feedback on
the worksheets as well as going over them with the class. A good extension for this lesson for advanced
students is to give them number to add together than they will have to correspond this new amount to the
number of objects the numbers added together created. For struggling learners, the teacher can work with them
more one on one and also cut out objects with the number quantity written on it so they can see a visual of how
many objects that number is.
