designing & implementing a steel
structure building
Who is the Course For?
This course is an opportunity for people to
learn more in detail about the various
critical aspects involved in design of Steel
Structure Buildings promoting structurally
safe building design in Pakistan. It is
suggested that applicants have some
previous experience in design or
construction of steel structure buildings
but not a requirement. The course would
be suitable for those who are students and
professionals working for Government and
non government organizations personnel.

Total Training Hours: 30
Three classes will be conducted every
week (Wed, Thursday, and Friday) and
each class will be of three hours
Timings 5p.m to 8p.m (Timings and days
may change upon students request)

By the end of the course the
participants will be able:
To have knowledge about various
structural types in steel structures
and there specific usage.
To understand of importance of
architectural aspects in design of
steel structure buildings
To perform ULS, Stability and SLS
design for various structural
elements resisting gravity and
lateral loading
To analyze and design various
types of connections in steel
structures i.e. hinge, full strength
& rigid, full strength & semi rigid,
partial strength & semi rigid
connections.
To perform serviceability checks
for various structural element
involved in design of RCC Structure
Building using ACI 318-08
To calculate base shear in
moment resisting frames using
UBC97 and EUROCODE provisions
Facilitators:
Resource persons having
extensive experience of capacity building
and material development will facilitate
the course.
The Course Coordinator is Mr. Farhan
Ahmed who will be supported by a team
including Mr. Omar Hayat and Mr. Bilal.
Fees:
15000 Rs without accommodation
this covers the tution fee and exciting
package of key resource material /
handouts. Last date for fee submission
will be 3rd June 13
