Leadership Styles

Introduction

Leadership within the organization plays a vital role in the creation of profit within the

daily business operations. The incorporation of a perfect leadership technique depends on the

ability of the management to exercise proper control structures that work for the long-term

benefit of the company. Poor leadership has a negative implication on the general operations of a

company. The practice leads to uncoordinated activities that affect the personal behavior of the

employees. The individual motivation of the workers becomes low while the workers perform

their duties. The leadership that the organization applies determines the future setting of the

organizational operations and the achievement of goals (Gibson, 2012). A look at various

leadership technique in respect to the corporate context is relevant in this case. The paper

discusses the application of bureaucratic and autocratic leadership style by two owners of the

same organization.

If two diverse individuals, each having a different leadership style, were tasked with

efficiently co-leading an organization, what potential conflicts might occur between these

different leadership styles?

Autocratic leadership

The application of autocratic leadership technique deals with control. It relates to the high

level of control that an individual is given within the organization. The leadership technique is

appropriate in the delegation of duty in a diagnostic organizational structure. The application of

the technique with one of the company owners would result in absolute control of all the

activities. This would leave the other owner with limited control over the company operations.

Ideally, the leadership technique can be described as the one that creates a dictatorship in the

management. The employees may also feel dissatisfied with the leader that exercises the style

leading to low motivation and willingness to put more effort on their tasks. Autocratic leadership

may also result to wrong decision-making since one leader is in charge of making all the decision

with limited guidance about the issue at hand. Therefore, autocratic leadership is likely to create

conflicts in management.

Bureaucratic leadership

The exercise of bureaucratic leadership exercised by the other leaders is an effective

management tool. The leadership technique is most appropriate because it is practiced by a

multinational organization based on its high level of effectiveness. The decision-making

structure, in this case, is the most suitable. This is based on the advice given by different experts

about the issue being discussed. The leader is most likely to be popular compared to the leader

that practices autocratic leadership. The conflict may arise to duty allocation and delegation since

the process involves complex procedures involved in the delegation of tasks. The conflict may

come as a result of confusion when the autocratic leader has assigned duty, and the bureaucratic

leader has performed the same task. The degree of control is the one that would create the legal

issue in this perspective.

How will their Personal leadership styles influence the organizational culture?

The organization culture is based on the imposed virtues that are installed by the

management of a company (Ryan, 2014). The leadership that the two leaders have would have

both a positive and negative impacts on the culture of the organization. The autocratic

administration would create a culture of dictatorship, as decisions made would be dependable on

the top leader. This would have negative implications, as the employees would be lowly

motivated to work for the company. On the other hand, bureaucratic leadership affects the

manner in which the workers coordinate with their daily tasks. The workers would be positively

motivated because the leadership style appreciates and incorporates them into their daily

activities. The culture of hard work would be created among the employees of the company.

How would you recommend that these two leaders work together most effectively?

The best way for the leaders to work together is to come up with a consensus. The

activity involves the creation of a perfect way in which good communication can be created

between the two. The two can decide on the perfect leadership technique that can work for the

benefit of the organization. In this case, they can assess the leadership technique that is favored

by the entire administration of the company. The application of both practices in a regulated

manner would work at increasing the level of productivity. The bureaucratic leadership works

regarding decision making while autocratic leadership works during the delegation of duty

(Selznick, 2011). The incorporation of the two leadership techniques facilitates the existence of a

perfect way of initiating better deals that would work at increasing the level of company

productivity. Therefore, I would suggest the creation of a consensus in which the two leaders

could agree on the suitable way forward.

Conclusion

In summary, the use of autocratic and bureaucratic leadership style plays a key role in the

creation of a leadership of a company. The application of autocratic leadership technique deals

with control. It relates to the high level of control that an individual is given within the

organization. Additionally, the organization culture is based on the imposed virtues that are

installed by the management of a company. Moreover, the leadership that has the two leaders

would have both a positive and negative impacts on the culture of the organization. According to

Tannenbaum, Weschler, & Massarik (2013), for the leaders with different leadership styles, it is

preferably wise to sit down and agree on the best approach to use in the management of the

organization, a plan that will favor both the administration and the employees at large.
