 GGS DODGEBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. There will be no more than 8 players per team.
2. Students in grades 5-8 from any school are eligible to play.
3. The team captain must turn in one team registration form. Each player must
turn in the Individual Participation Form with $3. Forms and payment are due
by Friday, November 3.
4. Teams must be checked in by 6:45 unless otherwise discussed with Miss
Bexson.
5. The basketball court lines will serve as the boundary lines of the tournament.
During play, all players must remain in the boundary lines unless they are
retrieving a stray ball.
6. The object of the game is to eliminate all players of the opposing team by hitting
them with a dodgeball below the shoulders, or catching a ball thrown by your
opponent before it touches the ground or hits the back wall.
7. The game begins by placing the balls on the centerline 8 total balls will be used.
Players take position behind their end line. Following a signal from the official,
teams may approach the centerline to retrieve the balls. Once a ball is retrieved it
must be taken behind the volleyball line before it can be thrown.
8. If a ball thrown hits two opposing team members, only the first person hit is out.
9. If a player crosses the centerline, the player is out.
10. When hit, the player must go out to the boundary line on the side of the court (the
chairs by the locker rooms)
11. If a player is hit in the face, they are not out. The person who threw the ball is
out.
12. Players may return to the game if one of their teammates catches a ball thrown by
the opposing team. They must return to the game in the order that they got out.
13. Once all players on a team are eliminated, the game is over.
14. This is a double-elimination tournament. Remember that if you lose once, you
could still win the championship!
15. Players may not argue with the officials. Officials have the power to foul out
any player who argues or is disrespectful. No second chances! Please be
respectful to those volunteering their time for all of us to have a fun tournament.
16. Each game is estimated to last 5-10 minutes. The first game will begin promptly
at 7:00. Your team must be checked in by 7:00 unless otherwise discussed with
Miss Bexson. No refunds will be given if you do not show up or if your team is
not checked in by 6:45.
