labour, equipment, materials, and performances of all operations in connection with
the installation of the intelligent voice alarm, public address and mass notification
system as shown on the drawings and as herein specified.
D. The work covered by this section of the specifications is to be coordinated with the
related work as specified elsewhere under the project specifications.
A. Each and all items of the voice Alarm and Public Address system shall be listed as
a product of a SINGLE Voice alarm and public address system manufacturer.
1.3 GENERAL
A. The voice alarm and Public Address system shall feature different circuits for
Rooms & Corridors.
C. In case of Alarm, Each Floor Should act as a one Fire alarm Zone regardless the
number of Circuits.
D. Master fully monitored zoned touch screen emergency microphone, high quality
pre-recorded Alert, Evacuation, Test messages and Security announcement should
be installed at the reception or Control Room.
F. Master Voice Alarm and public address rack shall contain at least one digital
Signaling processor Audio unit (DSP) with built in Pre-recorded messages, Mixer
and Matrix.
H. All the Amplifiers, Speaker Circuits, Emergency Paging Microphone and main Audio
Unit should be fully monitored.
I. In the event of mains AC failure, the system shall automatically switch to an integral
fully monitored DC power supply. This is sized to support the system for 24 hours
in standby conditions (quiescent) and for a further 30 minutes use at full load.
K. The system shall include the following inputs, listed in priority order where the
lowest number represents the highest priority:
L. The Evacuation, Alert and Test Messages shall be digitally stored within the router
units. Broadcast of these messages shall be controlled automatically by the fire
alarm system, or manually from the emergency microphone. When triggered from
the fire alarm system, the messages will require a separate de-latch command to
cease broadcast. In accordance with BS 5839 and NFPA72, messages triggered in
this manner cannot be silenced from the emergency microphone.
1.4 SUBMITTALS

2.4 AMPLIFIERS
The system shall include high quality 100V line amplification; Zones shall be as
Follows:
All amplifiers shall be monitored for correct operation and correct gain settings, to
ensure that the commissioned settings are maintained. Gain control shall normally
be achieved via the routing equipment; however each amplifier shall include a pre-
set gain control on the rear panel.
Each amplifier shall include a separate AC power supply system and DC standby
feed to minimise the affect of any failure. The system shall be capable of indicating a
failure of the DC supply to an amplifier (including the DC fuse) when the amplifier is
powered from mains AC.
A standby supply shall be included with the system to ensure that should the mains
AC supply fail; the system will continue to operate.
The support time shall be 24 hours in standby (quiescent) conditions plus a further 30
minutes use at full load.
Changeover to this supply shall be automatic and silent, and the batteries shall be
charged when mains is present.
Switch-mode operation
65Ah or 130Ah Capacity (multiple units where necessary)
Maintenance free sealed lead acid batteries
Full surveillance
Local LED Indication
Power feeds to each amplifier shall be separately protected against short circuit
faults. The surveillance system shall be capable of detecting individual battery
failures therefore solutions employing paralleled batteries are not acceptable.
Feeding the Audio Controllers from generator in case of main power failure is
not acceptable
Loudspeakers of the following types shall be utilized, as per the drawings. All
loudspeakers shall meet the requirements of BS 5839 part 8, IEC60849 complete
with ceramic terminal blocks and thermal links. Steel fire domes shall be fitted to
recessed ceiling types. Sensitivity is to be measured using a pink noise signal across
a wide bandwidth (as per IEC 60268-5:2003); sensitivity figures measured at a single
frequency shall not be acceptable.
