A few years ago, I went to the FIL in Guadalajara.

I was walking and I saw a stand, I stopped there

to take a look at the books. There were a lot of books, but all of them with a thematic, the 60th
anniversary of the publishing house (EMU). I decided to buy a packet of masterpieces of 5
authors, among them, Plato, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Franz Kafka, Leon Tolstoy and Anton Chekov.

I decided to talk about Anton Chekovs book.

In this book, there are many short stories and, also there are 3 plays, which, to be honest, I have
not read yet. This author reflects on his stories, mostly, two situations: Tragedy and comedy. In
Misery, he writes about how somebodys life can end even before its dead. While in Overdoing it,
Chekhov plays with the characters fear in a comedy style and how misunderstandings can end in a
funny way.

Likewise, Chekhovs stories reflect the misogyny which was common in that era. In The lady with
the dog, he relates how a man, who considers women less than men, falls in love with a married
woman. And in Drama, he relates how a man kills a woman just because she bored him with a
drama that she had written, and according to him, that woman should be doing women things.

Leaving that aside, I really enjoyed this book, because Chekhov knew how to describe his
characters situations and I really felt identified with some of them, and with some others I put
myself on their shoes. I was touched by their lives.

Gurov, the main character, is sick of his wife and their life together, so he starts to cheat on her
with every woman who crosses him on his way on his repeated work trips. In one of those trips, he
finally meets Anna, the lady with dog, and the story follows how each of them want to be with the
other one, but how it is almost impossible because of their marriages
