PROCEDURE

A. Preparing the Spray with Orange Peel Extract

Dice 265 grams orange peels and boil them in 474 mL of water for 30 minutes. While the mixture

is boiling, add 30 grams of salt and 15 grams of pepper. Let the mixture cool.

B. Preparing the Spray with Chili Extract

Dice 135 grams of chili pepper and grind them using mortar and pestle. Boil the ground chili

pepper in 474 mL of water for 30 minutes. While the mixture is boiling, add 30 grams of salt and

15 grams of pepper. Let the mixture cool.

C. Preparing the Spray with Orange Peel Extract, Chili Extract and Cinnamon Essential Oil

Boil 265 grams orange peels, ground 135 grams of chili pepper and 47.3176 mL of cinnamon

essential oil in 474 mL of water for 30 minutes. While the mixture is boiling, add 30 grams of salt

ENTICING THE ANTS

A. Attracting the ants for the Spray with Orange peel Extract

Place a Chocolate chip cookie in a tray, wait around a little while to see if the ants would come

along, if not find another spot. Eventually an ant would come and check out the Chocolate chip

cookie. Wait for an hour or two to have an ample amount of ants, the ants would likely eat it

due to its sugar content.

In applying the spray you need to use gloves so that you wont get any extract on your hands.

When the glove is already intact spray it over in the swarm of ants and on the ant trail so that

we can lessen the ants attracted to the Chocolate chip cookie.

B. For the Chili Extract

In applying the spray you need to use gloves especially in this one so that you wont get any

extract on your hands, if you had a direct contact with this spray immediately wash it. When the

C. For the Orange Peel, Chili and Cinnamon Essential Oil Extract

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to know how effective chili, orange peel and cinnamon essential oil is, as an

organic insecticide, this study sought to answer the following questions such as:

1. What are the contents of Chili, Orange peels and Cinnamon essential oil?

2. How effective Chilies, Orange peel and Cinnamon essential oil as an organic insecticide?

Significance of the Study

The main reason of this project are:

1. Ants can carry bacteria and might transfer them to food or an open wound.

2. For the students to be aware that there are many alternative insecticides to help maintain

the beauty of plants they see

3. To control the increasing amount of pest, ants is a serious pest to humans and livestock.

4. To show locally or internationally that using organic insecticides are natural and has no

harmful chemicals that would affect the bearing of fruits of a plant.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

This study focuses only to the efficiency of the Chili, Orange peel and Cinnamon essential oil as a

substitute insecticide in eliminating ants. In this manner, it is cheaper compare to the commercial one.
DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SPRAY

In computing for the effectiveness of the Orange Peel Extract first we need subtract the percentage of dead in the heck plat from the

corresponding figure for the treated plat and call the remainder the effectiveness of the treatment.

Let X = the percent living in the check.

Let Y = the percent living in the treated plat.

Then X Y = the percent killed by the treatment

And the percent killed by the treatment (X Y) divided by the percent of living in the check (X) gives the control or

expressed by an equation.
