Information, 2011 Budget.

2010 FALL COMMUNITY YARD SALES will be held on Saturdays, Sept. 11 and 18, with sales at homes all over the community.
Use this opportunity to clean out your garage, attic and closets, and make a few dollars at the same time. It’s a great way to recycle,
renew, reuse. Register your sale in advance to have the address listed in the flyer that will be available before the sale dates in the
Clubhouse lobby and at the Main Gate on sale days. The last day to register to be included on the list of sale locations for the Sept. 11
sale is Sept. 7; for the Sept. 18 sale, Sept. 13. Registered sellers may request directional signs so buyers can find them easily from
Jefferson Drive. Contact Lori at 589-8263, ext. 113, or email Lori@lmoa.org.

MOTORISTS, PLEASE REMEMBER: YOU MUST STOP for school buses, regardless of the direction you’re traveling. Keep
our school children safe -- it’s the LAW!
OCTOBERFEST VOLUNTEER SIGN UP MEETING will be held from 9 to 10AM on Sat., Aug. 28, in the Terrace Game Room for Lake
Monticello’s Celebration of Autumn/Octoberfest. The annual family-friendly event will take place on Sat., Oct. 16, at the Clubhouse, and
we need the assistance of our dedicated volunteers to make it happen. Sign up yourself, your family or your group to manage one or
more activities. Have some fun and help make this traditional autumn celebration possible. For more information about the meeting,
call Kym at 589-8263, extension 103.

“EMERGENCY 300” INFORMATION LINE: You can get Lake Monticello emergency information by calling 434-589-8263,
extension 300. The telephone number is LMOA’s Administration Office primary number, and extension 300 features a recorded
message about any known emergencies that may be in progress in the community. Instructions or referral to other resources may be
included in the message. The recorded message will be updated as possible when conditions change. If there is no community
emergency in progress, the message will reflect that status. Please note: Emergency 300 is not a source for
emergency assistance, and callers cannot leave a message.
For fire, rescue, police or other emergency assistance, always dial 911.

THE LAST POOL PARTY OF THE SEASON (for adults over 21) will be held on Sat., Aug. 21, from 8PM to 12M. The Parrot Head
themed end-of-summer celebration will feature music by DJs John and David and great prices on beverages. The snack bar will be
open as well. Admission is just $5 per person.

POOL AND SNACK BAR REMAIN OPEN THROUGH LABOR DAY: There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the pool before it
closes. The pool and snack bar will be open from 1 to 7PM on weekdays and 11AM to 7PM on weekends through Labor Day, Mon., Sept.
6. Lap swimming will continue 7 to 9AM Mon. through Friday.

AD HOC COMMITTEE ON DEER CONTRACEPTION will meet at 7PM on Tues., Aug. 31, in the Faulconer Room. The meeting is
open to all LMOA members, and time will be available for member comments.

“HOW TO MANAGE WILDLIFE IN AN URBAN SETTING”: The LMOA Wildlife Management Committee will present another
opportunity for residents to learn about living with wildlife on Sept. 8 at 7PM in the Terrace Room. Mark your calendar and watch for
details to follow.

END OF SUMMER SHIRT SPECIAL: Clean out your closet and bring a shirt you no longer want to the Pro Shop. We’ll give you $10
off the purchase of a new golf shirt and donate the old shirts to Goodwill.

KEEP THOSE DOLLARS AND DIMES COMING IN: As of Aug. 18, $22,338.50 has been raised toward construction of the community
fishing pier, nearly 90% of the estimated $25,000 needed. Send donations of any size to Bo’s Pier Group, 265 Turkeysag Trail, Suite 102,
#130, Palmyra, VA 22963. Make checks payable to LMOA, marked for the pier fund. Donation forms are available at
http://sites.google.com/site/lmoafishingpier/ or at the Administration Office. Please note that this is not a tax deductible donation. [A
financial statement is available upon written request from the VA Office of Consumer Affairs.]

NOW THAT WE’VE REMINDED PET OWNERS to pick up and dispose of pet droppings properly, we’ve begun hearing all kinds of
related stories. Residents in neighborhoods throughout the community are telling of their experiences with irresponsible neighbors and
strangers who ignore or outright refuse to scoop the poop. LMOA policy requires that owners of any pet – dog, cat or otherwise – clean
up after them. Pet owners who violate the policy can be summoned before the Compliance Committee for adjudication, which can
result in a monetary penalty and/or loss of privileges.

RECYCLING ELECTRONICS: Goodwill Industries has partnered with Dell to create RECONNECT, a program that gives consumers
the opportunity to responsibly recycle unwanted electronic equipment or to make them available for reuse at no charge. Simply bring
computers, hard drives, monitors, keyboards, printers and nearly anything else that connects to a computer to any Goodwill store or
attended donation center. We are fortunate at Lake Monticello to have a Goodwill donation center just outside Falcon Hills Gate on
Turkeysag Trail. It’s so quick and easy. (Please donate only when the center is attended.) This program keeps toxic materials out of
landfills and provides funding for training and employment programs. Go online to
http://www.goodwillcva.org/donate/computers.html for more information about the program.
LAKE SAFETY REMINDER: The Lake Preservation Committee reminds residents that contamination of the lake can occur at any time after
heavy rains. Please protect your own health – avoid lake water contact for 24 to 48 hours or until any posted restrictions have been lifted.
Check for alerts at the beaches and the LMOA information resources on cable TV channels 10 (977) and 14 (978), website at www.lmoa.org,
Facebook and by calling the emergency information line at 589-8263, extension 300.
