Schemes costing less than Rs. 12.5 crore are cleared at the State level by
the State Flood Control Boards.
Normally, GFCC does not examine schemes costing less than Rs. 12.5
crore. However, in special cases, such as schemes on emergent flood protection
works in the Eastern Sector on common / border rivers with Bangladesh, Ministry
of Water Resources, Government of India issued an instruction that GFCC would
scrutinize such schemes on the common / border rivers with Bangladesh and make
recommendations to MoWR for release of funds. In addition, all Central sector
schemes in Ganga Basin irrespective of cost are, however, examined from techno-
economic aspect in GFCC.
