1 - Philosophy of Operation

EMC Reply:
Attached short course presentation showing the design and how operation the AVR application.
Attached the Installation Operation Maintenance manual

2- How to follow up the operation and maintenance.

For maintenance works, Please contact the sales for offering maintenance service if required.

3- Alarm and troubleshooting

EMC Reply:
Please refer to the attached, in case that you have exercised an ALARM please state exactly what are the
alarms you have and troubleshooting.
In any case, our service representative will be available at site as will be scheduled upon your
confirmation, so the issue can be discussed.
Meanwhile, please provide the coordination study carried out by KPC to the consultant for engineering
review- Thanks to provide us a copy.

4- Unbalance Voltage Regulator

EMC Reply:
1- Please note that weve performed the required site tests BEFORE and AFTER installation (as per
attached certificates).

2- Based on (1) above, the installed regulators are performed its function perfectly, however we should
notify for other COMMON CAUSES that might be the real cause of unbalanced voltage for your check
before our rep. site visit:

Although the voltages are quite well balanced at the generator and transmission levels the voltages at
the utilization level can become unbalanced due to the unequal system impedances and the unequal
distribution of single-phase loads
A large single-phase distribution transformer on the system
An open phase on the primary of a three-phase distribution transformer
Open delta-connected transformer banks.
Unequal impedances of a three-phase transmission and distribution network can also cause voltage
unbalance.
Heavy reactive single-phase loads.
5- Software of the AVR

EMC Reply:
TapTalk M-6200 Communications Software with the capability to interrogate Beckwith Electric Digital
Regulator Control will be provided on a laptop machine plus its connection cable (USB cable)
FYI, this was scheduled to be carried out by 3rd Sep 2014 Visit, visit cancelled due to EMC failure to
present the LG to our hands or to site representative.
E- Setting and parameters (% impedance) of the AVR

EMC Reply:

A clear data has to be provided by the KPC, only R value presented, while (X) & (Z) are still missing.
Once KPC providing the missing data, we can added to the controller setting if you need to activate the
line voltage drop compensation.

B- Customer Notes and Our reply

1- Need to supply the serial link cable

EMC Reply:
Will be provided with the laptop, as mentioned in our reply above mentioned.

2-Need to supply the operation manual, maintenance manual and spare parts list ( soft copy )

EMC Reply:
Attached soft copy for your reference.

3-Need to supply protection and setting parameters in hard and soft copy.

EMC Reply:
No protection by the AVR itself, Protection should be considered by the switchgear.
Out of EMC scope.

4-Drop line compensation not activated

EMC Reply:
Refer to our above mentioned reply on comment.

5-Ground fault protection in switch gear will not working after the AVR

EMC Reply:
Network / system protecting should not be affected by the installation of AVR; this is out of EMC scope.
Please refer to your consultant.

- NOTE: Per your mentioned fax regarding the coordination study, please refer to our reply dated
08/09/2014.
CONCLUSION:
We propose to have a meeting with the concerned in charge to clarify & find out a solution for any
pending / remaining issues in the light of EMC scope of supply.
KPC is kindly requested to provide the missing data related to line compensation in order to
activate the same.
