Lets get this straight right off . . .

Im the expert to listen to because for years Ive


SUCKED at creating and launching products fast.

Thats right, in the last seven years Ive created


exactly nine products.

Huh?

Really, I dont suck at creating products I create


AWESOME FREAKIN products but it has taken me
forever to GSD (get s&*#, er, stuff done).

Thats right, I can sell the hell out of what I create


(and Im going to give you a QUICK system to emulate)
but getting it created quickly and efficiently is the
problem Ive lived with for too long.

And THAT DRIVES ME FREAKIN INSANE!

Now, you should be thinking . . .

Dude . . . I just paid you for so-called expert advice


and unless you can explain yourself here . . . why are
you the expert I want to listen to?

That answer is simple because of the struggle Ive


been forced to try it all. Ive been through
confusion, frustration, anger and even fear.

Ive bought every damned product on the subject. And


Im creating my own product, my own system, because
although Ive learned bits and pieces here and there,
none of it lead me to the result I want.

And what do I want? I want to create more stuff,


faster, so I can make more money and I want that
stuff to be REALLY good so people benefit from it, rave
about it, and write about what a brilliant, genius I
am.

Cool?

If you know what Im talking about if you TOO want to


create stuff thats REALLY good so people benefit from
it, rave about it, and write about how brilliant YOU
are - and you just cant seem to get it done either,
then you and I have a lot in common and whats
happened in the past isnt going to happen in the
future something else, something much better, is
going to happen in the future.

would be without it (and of course, results will vary).

OK, so cranking out a 10-15 page report and making
money selling it for $7 sounds promising, but not
exactly revolutionary . . . and what we want is
wickedly-good revolutionary ideas at Factor X
Marketing.

HELLO!
The Problems
Nah, this isnt an amateur psychology session here, but
lets face it, we do have problems.

Fundamentally the system weve used in the past sucks


and, it doesnt matter if you care to admit it or not,
that entire system is based in our brainworks you
cant evaluate the past systems that didnt work
without evaluating the brain systems that played a role
in the failure.

Lets start by looking at some of the common problems


in the system for me and many others

Lack of Clarity
Intention is powerful in proportion to the
narrowness of its focus. Neville

Each day when I sit down to work without a clear


mission for the day, the odds of having a crap day are
90% and higher.

That is not good.

As-if thats not bad enough my crap day usually becomes


a crap evening for the family that has to deal with my
grumpy, dissatisfied self.

{Let me offer a half-way apology for my language but I


just cant seem to put an airy-fairy spin on this
feeling it beyond sucks, you know.}

The first thing to do every day is to take as long as


it takes to get clear on whats going to get done. Do
not fool yourself by thinking this can be achieved in
front of, or even in the same room with, a computer.

It will not happen.

Until you are ready to use your computer as a tool, it


is your enemy.

It will not happen because until one is clear there is


hesitancy and hesitancy or knowing youre really NOT
making progress is uncomfortable and the easiest way
to avoid discomfort is to escape through distraction.

And whats the greatest distraction tool ever invented?

The computer.
You probably saw that coming.

Get clear, before you do anything else. The good news


is thats the hardest work of the day but it must be
done.

Dont sweat it well deal with each of these problems


- I have solutions that work.

Lack of Commitment
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back --
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary
truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that
the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

You know what youre committed to? Youre committed to


whatever you do.

If you get up and go to a job you hate every day,


youll do that until youre no longer committed to
doing that and you commit to something else.

If you waste hours on ESPN or chat boards, instead of


getting after your work guess what youre committed
to?

I think there are three big issues for people related


to commitment:

1. Im not sure this is really what I want

great, but when it comes to doing the work you have


to do are you committed to getting it done? Are
you COMMITTED to the niche, your customers? Only
you can answer that one.

Im not a true-blue believer in the idea of Do


what you love and the money will follow but if you
dont love what you do . . . the odds of making any
money aint good.

2. What if it doesnt work?

The best you can do is make an educated guess and


if it fails be happy with an education the
opportunity to learn something is right there.

Look, if you want a sure thing thats what a job is


for (except, ask the guy in the unemployment line
if thats how it really works) theres a reason
youll never make as much money with a job as you
can with your own business, and thats because a
job is like investing in a CD (certificate of
deposit). Youll be lucky to keep up with
inflation, and youll surely never get ahead (well,
there is the lotto) . . . but at least you wont
lose anything, right?

You wicked and slothful servant.

3. Its going to take too much time

Well hit this one from a variety of angles through


the text. You simply have no choice but to eat an
elephant one bite at a time.

Which leads us into the next . . .

Lack of Constraints

If you give yourself all the time in the world to do


something youll never complete it.

The difference between the real world and the digital


world is that the digital world never ends, it never
sleeps, it never takes a day off.

The cool thing about that is if you take ADVANTAGE of


this you can make money 24/7/365 and the Internet, or
someone else, can do most of the work for you.

But thats a little ahead of where we are now -

The next constraint to place on yourself is to define,


specifically, what youll cover in your report. Too
many times I sit down to write a report and then the
mind goes crazy with ideas.

And by the time idea craziness takes over I dont have


a report I have something far bigger which never
seems to get done because the next big idea always
comes along right about the time things get difficult
and Im looking for the next distraction.

Ill go into this more, later, but the next limit I


give myself is that a report is ONE MAIN IDEA with
three supportive sub-ideas. If it gets any bigger than

that, then were talking about additional reports


because seven $7.00 reports that are done are more
valuable than one $69.00 info-product that isnt.

And finally, dont edit, format, etc, until later


just write, otherwise youll lose your flow

Lack of Plan
I work at home, in my office, most of the time. I find
it very difficult to plan-think in this environment
(see Lack of Clarity).

When I find myself falling into struggle-spiral I now


recognize I need to get out, and away. I take a
notepad, my Ipod, an inspiring article, a highlighter
and a pen to the nearest coffee shop.

The Take List

Pen and/or pencil

I dont talk to anyone at the coffee shop; Im not


there to socialize I need the perspective of being in
the outside world, and I need to be away from normal
comforts and distractions (which is why I dont
socialize the worst thing that can happen is to see a
friendly face that wants to chat).

That is why I take the Ipod (or whatever); sometimes I


dont even listen, I just put on my headphones. Its
like a Closed sign, as long as you avoid making eye-
contact.

People who have problems focusing are more able to


focus in a lively environment I find this true and
its based on scientific research (which Id cite if I

felt you really need that but instead just take my


damned word, OK?).

This coffee shop time is critical time for me to map


out my plan. What am I doing? When am I doing it?
Why am I doing what Im doing?

Lack of Confidence
Look, Ive made $15,000 in a day numerous times selling
a product Ive created. Ive made $50K or more in a
month, also numerous times selling product Ive
created. I can make money and people tend to rave
about my products. And, I still have a confidence
issue with my output.

Yeah, thats hard to admit but its the truth and the
only thing that makes that fact feel better is to just
admit it.

Having a big hit or two or three or six isnt the thing


thats going to make it future easy if you havent
done that, know its not the difference maker.

What if nobody buys this? simply turns into What if


this doesnt live up to what people expect from me?

This is a hard one to admit, but yeah, I have a hard


time finishing because it means Im going to have to
release something and I know Im not alone on this.

Most people suffer from confidence issues with their


output. Is this good enough? Is this rock star
quality? Is this going to change the world?

This isnt rational thinking, at all.

What is an average product? Is there a definition?


A way to accurately measure what average is?

And who does the measuring? Is average the same to


everyone?

However much, or however little, you have to offer


its going to be news, or helpful to someone. And, at
the same time someones going to hate it because then
they have an excuse for doing nothing and getting their
money back.

I mean, seriously, its NOT them.

Five years ago I recorded a little video you can watch


on YouTube and in that video I said You only need 500-
1000 people who like what you do to make a 6-figure
income.

Thats 100% true.

You dont need a million visitors per year to your


website. I dont care who you are, if youre willing
to just be you, there are 500 people in the world who
will think youre cool enough theyll give you some
money now and then.

And if you dont think YOU are cool enough then create
a persona a character. Take some chances, have some
fun. And dont overestimate, or underestimate, what
you have to offer being average you is good enough
to get where you want to go.

The point here being, dont worry about who isnt going
to like it worry about who is going to like. Think
about the possibility of changing the life of the
person who has struggled, who hasnt heard what you
have to say or who has heard what you have to say but
they need to hear it the way ONLY YOU can say it.

PRO TIP: Two ways to deal with feedback you dont want
to hear are 1) to have someone else deal with support.

I instruct my support people that I want to hear


nothing but positive or constructive feedback.

If theres a refund I dont want to, or need to, know


about it and 2) if youre doing your own support (I
recommend you ditch that ASAP) it helps to create a
persona so people arent talking TO YOU.

I have a business partner who created a product, and


handles support (the product is a bit technical and he
needs to earn his keep) but hes sensitive to negative
criticism, as many of us are. This solution really
helped him to not take something that isnt personal,
personal.

These problems are simple enough to resolve but if you


wont face them, you wont progress. The system wont
help you if you wont allow yourself to work it.

If you can recognize your constraint or the


constraint you need to impose . . . then you have
progress!

Its also worth noting these problems are related and


they give momentum to each other. You must address
each or they will gang up and eat you.

Getting to Work
Because I take my own advice on occasion I spent an
hour or two at the coffee shop today, Wednesday, after
essentially wasting Monday and Tuesday without a focus
or plan. I mean its not like I dont have tons of
ideas or other crap to do, but thats how crazy,
unfocused people fail to
live up to their potential.

Sitting down to plot out my


plan I put on my headphones
and listened to my Laser
Focus audio program
(shameless plug, how
terrible) this helped me
focus, but also proved
necessary to drown out the three petty, annoying
middle-aged wannabe-diva chicks engaged in an overly
loud gossip session (an ugly listening experience).

So with headphones on I read an article on strategic


planning up to the point that inspiration strikes
this is why I read something, to get me thinking
outside normal thought patterns.

I highlight interesting ideas as I go many arent


new, but the reminders spur thinking. Prior to reading
I felt stuck, clueless and without direction.
But when inspiration strikes, THEN out comes the pen
and notepad.

What could I be doing?

What do I have to work with?

What have I started and not finished?

What could I leverage?

How can I apply what I just read TO CONQUER THE


WORLD!? BUWAHAHAHAH! BUWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Whatever just begin writing. Stop and ponder. Look


out the window. Observe people. Ideas *will* start
coming faster than you can write them.

Now today today, I wrote down a dozen or so report


ideas. And then I had a bigger idea. Ive been
working on a larger info-product, which can be
overwhelming, especially when youve got six or seven
of these larger info-products in some stage of never-
getting-done already.

Then it struck me many of the report ideas I was


writing down happened to also be elements of a larger
project, the larger project (of the day).

Lets say the larger project is a book with 10


chapters, or a video course with 10 videos.

Well, those ten chapters or videos are essentially


10 reports. (OR! 10 interchangeable MODULES that can
be repurposed over and over and over!)

So, I can spend the next month trying to finish this


bigger project or I can make the full-on effort to

bang out AND SELL each of these chapters, one per


day, over the next two weeks WHILE also selling them as
I work.

Instead of putting together the ONE big project, I can


put together 10 smaller projects with 10 smaller sales
pitches and sell each of them as I go. Plus Ill be
building a list of people ready to buy the full-blown
product when its ready.

This also solves another problem the problem of Now


what do I sell to the people whove already bought?

The plan for that is already in place.

Let me take you through the complete picture . . .

Heres my plan, and yours -


(if anything isnt clear now - there are some jumps in reasoning - it will get cleared up later)

1. Create mind map of all key information components


to be included in the final full-blown product.

2. Write a really simple sales letter for each report.

3. Write 1 report per day, based on the mind map


outline, until each and every key information
component is covered.

4. Sell the product (module) in a market where buyers


and sellers ALREADY meet.

5. Repeat process, promoting new products (modules) to


buyers

6. Compile modules into one product, add additional


value and release full-blown product letting all
existing customers know and offering them a
discount on the total package to generate momentum.

I want to keep the plan simple I could take it


further and use the content on a membership site, do
webinars, video training, etc, but thats only going to
complicate matters RIGHT NOW. Everything can be
repurposed later but nothing can be repurposed that
doesnt first exist.

This makes sense, right?

YES!
The ONLY acceptable answer you can give.

STEP ONE: Brainstorming


FANTISTIC Ideas
For many of us getting started is the hard part.

What should I do? What should I create? What do


people want?

There are two ways of thinking

The first way goes with conventional market wisdom:


Create what the market wants.

That means we can begin by doing research on what


people are buying. Whats the hot topic? Whats a
problem on peoples mind?

That is probably the most certain route to take.

But some of us are visionaries and we see things before


people know they need them. My products have tended to
take this route: I have a problem. Other people
probably also have this problem. Im going to create a
product that solves my problem and share it with
others.

To me, this approach is more exciting.

Either way were starting with goals people have -


desires. But heres a different way of looking at
goals

When people create a goal, they create a job for them


self and that job comes with a set of problems they
need to overcome.

Maybe . . .
They dont know how to do the job
They dont know the best way to do the job
They dont want to do the job alone
Theyre having trouble getting motivated to do the
job
They have bad habits preventing forward progress
They want a more efficient way to get the job done
They want a less costly way of doing the job

There is a gap between where they are (or you are) and
where they (or you) want to be.

Start with these 4 questions:

1. What problems do I have (or my market)?

Make a list of every problem you can think of.


Whats lacking, missing, frustrating, not working,
etc?

2. Where are they now?

What is their Point A? Theyre in Hoboken but they


want to go to Hollywood. They have high blood
pressure, but they want it normal. Theyre lonely
and they want to meet their soul-mate.

3. Where do they wish they were instead?

Happier? Healthier? Richer? More prestigious?


Sexier? On a tropical island? Snowboarding?
Running a charity?

4. What needs to happen to get there, in the most


efficient way possible?

This is The Gap. Its the distance between where


we are and where we want to be. How can we shorten
the gap and get across it?

This may be enough to give you some killer ideas.


Some personal problems Ive solved with products or
services Ive created:

A fan of personal development programs since I was


18, I wanted someone to help me stick with it. I
started coaching people before coaching is what
it was called.

I created this product to help me create products


faster and more efficiently because I was
frustrated with myself for taking 6-9 months to
create products.

I created a product called Fast, Good and Cheap


Sales Letter Formula because I wanted fast, good
and cheap sales letters.

I created a product called Free Your Mind, my


second product, because I wanted a system for
overcoming my own limiting beliefs and expanding my
thinking/creativity.

I created a Wordpress plugin called Soda Popper


because I wanted an easy way to cloak my affiliate
links, bypass other peoples squeeze pages, or send
people direct to a shopping cart while ensuring
my affiliate cookie gets placed so that I get
credit for sales earned.

And Ive done over 85 training webinars that often


focus on issues Im dealing with in my own business
(all of which could, and should, be products but
theyve been delivered to my members).

Alright, so you have a list of goals (lose weight),


where people are (overweight), where they want to be
(fit and healthy) and the problems they face with
getting there (habits, diet, exercise, emotional
issues, etc).

You can now pick the problem that sounds most


compelling to resolve and start working towards solving
it for people.

If you still need inspiration or a direction Ive


included a bonus report on generating ideas.

Here too are a few additional ideas to kickstart your


creativity:

Go read articles on the subject/problem. Many good


articles have great titles and occasionally youll find
an article so good you can expand it into a product.

Look at best-selling books. Pick out chapter titles


that sound compelling.

Scour forums and look for questions and answers. I


learned this one the hard way when a guru took an
answer of mine from a forum and created an information
product based on it!

Pro Tip: Bookmark, clip, copy, snip and save every


useful idea or piece of information you come across. I
carry an artists sketch book with me and a variety of
pens, highlighters and pencils. I save anything that
strikes me as a useful idea mine or others.

Make it a habit to collect information and ideas. Ill


show you how to organize them later for quick access,
sorting and compilation.

For this next part youll want to step away from the
computer go to where youll think best. That may be a
quiet place, or it may be a stimulating place like a
coffee shop.

Next Step: Brain Dump

Youve picked the subject for your product. Now take


what you know about a subject, in broad strokes, and
start making a mind map or outline. Make no effort to
organize any of this its just stuff in your head
that feels good when it gets out.

Simply start writing down anything and everything


some will be used, some wont.

This process is probably best done on a simple sheet of


paper or in a notebook.

If your brain just isn't dumping, read something on the


topic you're working with to get the ideas flowing or
ask yourself these questions -

What could I be doing?

You don't HAVE TO do anything, but what COULD you

Brainstorming is what happens when you cross the


imaginary creative line between what you know - what
you're dumping out - and sparks of inspiration.

I find that brainstorming always happens naturally


after I begin brain dumping.

I'm not going to give you all the well-worn


brainstorming advice like "Don't stop" or "Don't judge
your ideas".

I will say that the best ideas almost always come after
the obvious stuff gets written down, so when you think
you've got everything on paper force yourself to write
down another 10 ideas.

Just give it a try and see what comes.

Pro Tip: Mash-ups. Take ideas from seemingly


unrelated subjects and combine them. Peanut butter
and chocolate brilliant!

Organize, Collect and Organize

The brain dump and the brainstorm will leave you


overwhelmed with ideas. Some are worth pursuing and
some arent.

At this point pick something out of your list and run


with it. I decided I liked the idea of taking a
product Im working on, slicing it up into report sized
pieces and going from there.

The next step then is to give that idea this product


a form. What IS the system?

That turned into a rough outline, that became this


product V1.0. Ive learned from and refined the system

Letter
Most product creators Ive witnessed save writing the
sales letter for last. Thats how I always did it too.

The thinking is How can I sell something before Ive


created it?

Ive learned that approach doesnt produce the best


sales letter, or the best product.

Product creation can happen fast but the critical work


comes in the planning, the design. Fast requires
intensity, focus and planning.

And the best way Ive found to make that happen is by


writing the sales letter first.

Heres why:

1. When you write the sales letter first you will


create a better product by defining exactly what
you plan to include. Youll include what you need
to make the offer exciting and compelling. And
youll exclude random tag-along ideas that dilute
focus, and/or could become another product, module,
chapter, etc.

2. Before you create anything you need to know who


youre going to sell it to, how youre going sell
them and where youll find them hanging out.

Heres what Ive learned . . . its a critical mistake


to create something you cant sell, first.

When I say sell I dont mean to collect money (but


you can); I do mean that you must clearly outline what
you plan to offer and make that offer with enthusiasm.

If YOU cant get excited about selling it, then why


create it?

Literally Consider Selling It First


The ideal would be that you write a sales letter,
collect some cash, AND THEN create your product. And
if enough income isnt generated then just refund the
cash, skip the product creation and put your time
someplace else.

That may not work for some of us, HOWEVER Ive done it
more than a couple times and I know others whove done
it too.

NOTE: A good place to start with this approach is


to attach your to be created product to a known
product as a bonus.

2. Does that sentence sound compelling enough that YOU


would buy it and do you feel excited about creating

3. Is there an existing marketplace a place where

Lets break this down

Can you explain what youre selling, and who its for in a
sentence?

Teaching is about boiling down facts and ideas into


something usable and understandable to others. If you
cant explain what it is in a sentence or two, you
cant sell it and youre going to have a lot of trouble
creating it (trust me).

Its critical to do this BEFORE starting because . . .

Does that sentence sound compelling enough that YOU feel


excited about creating it? Would you spend your own money for
this information?

Heres a little told writing secret, because its an


intangible you can do a good job of writing,
mechanically, but the difference between OK writing and
GREAT writing has everything to do with the mental
state of the writer.

I say this is intangible because theres no way to


quantify it. Its like this there are subtle nuances
and energy that come through with every word, and the
way words are used or arranged. Its not something you
teach people its in the tone, in the vibe of the
writers mind.

This tone, this vibe, comes through and even if the


information is good if you dont have the right tone,
or vibe during creation the end product will suck; the
end product being the sales pitch or the report, or
both.

You must write this sentence and it must make you go


HELL YEAH! Id buy that!

And if that sentence you come up with doesnt make you


go HELL YEAH! then keep trying.

Go read some world class sales copy if you must find


some great swipe file materials. Get inspired and DO

We are not going to spend two weeks or $1500 to have a
sales letter written for a $7 report or a $47 video
training session.

It isnt necessary to get started.

Instead youre going to answer 5 questions with the


best answer you have, right now.

By answering these 5 simple questions you will


basically be writing the rough draft of your sales
letter.

What Is It?

You will answer this question and it becomes your


headline, pre-headline & sub-headline.

are eventual goals, or secondary benefits/objectives.

Why Do I Need It?

This your opening AND closing paragraph.

The headlines say what it is and who it's for - and


this paragraph stresses why it's needed.

You have a problem (see the headline) and I've solved


it for you.

This part offers an alternative explanation.

EXAMPLE: Why do I need it?

You need it because other product creation systems dont work for most
people. You need it because youre not making as much money as you
could be, and because it simply sucks to struggle with this. It can be SO
easy. Plus, instead of waiting for a large payday you can build momentum
during the development process.

I could go on and on here. The more reasons why I


need it, the more compelling it will be. I may not
include all of these reasons but its better to have
more to work with, than less.

STEP THREE: CREATE MIND MAP


OF END PRODUCT
Mind maps work period. Many people already use them,
but not like this.

It helps to see a visual representation of the pieces.

Because its like, a map, you know it shows you where


youre going and how youre going to get there.

You cant get that picture from a 50 page document


and as I write Ive found its HARD to write 50 pages
of content without having a map to keep me from
wandering into LOST.

When I say create a mind map, Im using software.

This can be a very effective writing tool as well (more


on that later).

Other methods Ive used and use - are outlining (yes,


like a term paper), white boards, pencil-to-paper,
notecards and colored Post-Its. I particularly like
Post-Its because you can easily re-arrange them on a
white board without any erasing.

I also like the Post-It method because no computer is


required and while I work well on a computer, when
focused, I dont think well in front of a distraction
device activities managed with a checklist work for
me, deep thinking does not.

1. Most of us cannot sit at a computer and plan a


project effectively I dont think anyone REALLY
can, or does.

All planning must happen away from a computer and

2. Once the plan is clear THEN you will be effective


doing work at the machine.

This may not be you, but give it serious consideration.

Think about it the computer is a logical tool built


on . . . logic and rules that also enables an unclear

maybe, they have the thought What could I offer as an

Because its nice to create a product and have it do


well, but its really dang frustrating to not be able
to carry that momentum forward with something else.

The related problem is putting too much, or trying to


put everything into the one product thats been my
tendency.

People dont need everything right now they dont.

Besides that, you and I cant give them everything we


cant.

So the happy place Ive found is to outline The End


Product I want to deliver, then slice it up into
smaller chunks.

These smaller chunks become the modules Im talking


about or they could be any other piece of the puzzle
youre creating.

I want to make sure Ive clarified this before we go


forward the mind map is a complete picture its the
full 10 chapters, or 10 videos, or whatever will
comprise an end product.

Those 10 chapters, or videos, then EACH become their


own stand alone module for immediate sale and list

Once you've got an outline youre ready to create that


first mind map and then you can start adding details
and collecting bits and pieces of information.

Maybe youll notice that points 2 and 3 are switched


because I decided, based on experience, its better to
write the sales letter FIRST, then to create the report
or product.

NOTE: Admittedly, its tough to write a QUALITY


report FAST without consistently collecting
information over time.

With consistent collection of thoughts, ideas and


questions yours and others the work is largely
done when you sit down to create the product.

You know how overnight success never really happens


overnight? Its like that. Collection can happen in
an intensive weekend of reading, but how fun is that?

Collection is the fun part and it simply depends on


establishing a collection, and organization habit.

You CAN collect enough in an hour, or less, but


collection should become a habit in order to output the
highest quality material with, seemingly, the least
effort.

Every time you come across an interesting idea or a


great question, save and organize it in your software
mind map.

worthless endeavor if you cant find and access
information youve previously processed. But if you
CAN, and you can organize in ways that tie everything
to together then you have power.

us did. Bradley Coopers character REALLY only became
able to access more of the information, much faster,
that he had stashed away in his subconscious mind.

information for later processing and sharing. It will
be FAST to find, FAST to access and FAST to recall for
personal use.

an entire report based on one article (I have).

Dont plagiarize, but its perfectly OK to take the


work of another and expand on it, adding details
and resources.

Questions

Questions are gold your report should answer as


many questions as you can find. Questions are also
indicators of the 4 emotions you will focus on when
writing your sales copy.

Answers

Good answers are tougher to find than good


questions, which is why people are willing to pay
for information. But good answers are out there
find and collect them.

As you begin to synthesize the information youre


accumulating, along with other life experiences
that may have no direct relation to subject matter
youre writing about, you will have ideas
although ideas are a dime a dozen, youre also only
one idea away from making some serious money so
write them down.

More Research

Lets not make this tougher than it is. You need good
information and that can come from a variety of sources
Im not going to attempt to cover them all because
youre probably familiar with search engines, and where
to find information varies from niche to niche.

How to Seeker Tool

This cool tool is created by Derek Franklin whos had


as much influence on my system as anyone.

This tool is a huge time saver. It comes pre-populated


with with a number of niche ideas, but you can add your
own.

sites, how to sites, videos, common search terms and

Software

Software is a great tool to some and a great limitation


to others.

I needed 3-4 years to learn to use Mindjet Mind


Manager, but I don't read or follow instructions very
well.

Mind mapping software is one of the most critical,


efficient tools I use in my business. I use it every
day and I wouldnt live without it.

Often, I don't start the mind mapping process with


software but as soon as I have some direction I create
a new map and use the software to begin assembling
pieces of information.

You can't assemble and manage all of this information,


as quickly and easily, through any other means.

I have piles of paper sitting around with idea maps


scribbled on them.

I don't think I really need to explain this.

And it's probably obvious why you should use a pencil


and not a pen, but then again do whatever you like.

Pencil-to-paper is probably only a rough draft anyone


so scribble it up.

Whiteboard

White-boarding is just like


pencil-to- paper but it . . .
it feels better.

It's also easy to erase and


move things around.

Thing is though, nobody seems


happy when I show up to the
coffee shop with a whiteboard
and handful of stinky pens.

Actually it's a real pain in the boat to drive around


with all that -

But it works great in the office.

Notecards

Maybe you think all these different "tools" are


overkill but I find different things work better at
different times.

At the core I'm a creative geek and working with


different mediums, if you will, is what I need at
times.

I like to buy a set of


colored notecards so I can
sort out topics by color.

Then it's easy enough to


re-arrange ideas in the
order you want to use them
in.

I planned the writing of


the Affiliate Black Book using notecards. They're
still around somewhere and I should auction them off on
Ebay for a few thousand bucks (OK, that's on the to- do
list - I'll let you
know when you can
place your bid).

Post-It Notes

I think everyone is
familiar with those
little square pieces
of yellow paper that
have a little stick
on the back of them.

I'm fan - I love those things even if I HATE seeing


them stuck all over desks and monitors (I didn't
realize that about myself until right now).

The way I like to use Post-It notes are a hybrid of


notecards and white-boarding.

I also like the colored Post-It notes - they come in


all kinds of colors, even with lines. I use the white
ones that are lined with different colors.

Post-Its are cool because you can re- arrange them and
stick them on a whiteboard. You could move the notes
around 100 times and they'll still stick.

Unlike cards, they don't require


a dedicated flat surface. I can
pop what I want on a white board
hung on the wall next to my
computer and work from there.

A cool book on this concept, for


serious Post-It geeks, is called

STEP FOUR: Create Your Module


Going into the creation phase lets start with a
handful of points.

1. If youve done your mind map work then writing the


report should be quick, simple work.

2. Writing without a well-defined outline means that


you will spend a lot of time re-writing and re-
organizing, and youll be more likely ramble
incessantly.

3. Dont judge it. If it sells, you got paid to


acquire education. If it doesnt sell you have
bonus materials, free opt-in incentives, etc. Let
the market tell you if it wants to buy . . . and
whether they buy or not has more to do with how you
sell it than what youve written.

Write 1 Report Per Day (or Week or Month) for Each Chapter

Writing a report per day sounds like a big chunk, but


its totally doable if youve done the mind map work.

You want to force yourself to write fast so you can


get this project done and move on to the next. If you
take your time, then other things will begin to fill up
your time and youll never get it done.

I have a lawn tractor ( a riding lawn mower ). The


first time I had to remove the mowing deck required 4
hours in the hot Tennessee sun. It sucked.

That summer I ran over a number of items ropes,


bailing twine, electric fence wire meaning each time
I had to remove that deck again and again. By the end
of the summer I could remove, fix the problem and
replace that deck in 20 minutes.

Yee Haw!
You will also find the first report is the hardest
write, will require the most effort and take the most
time. It too will probably suck.

The next report will require half the time, and the
next half again. The more times you perform a specific
task, in a short period of time, the better youll get
the faster youll get.

Getting started -

Ive already learned from writing this how to make the


next thing I write even better.

My first mistake was sitting down to write (even though


I know better), then jumping back and forth with the
mind map.

What happened is Id written things that should go in


one section on the mind map under another section in
the written text.

The result? Mess and confusion that set me back by


hours and created unnecessary confusion.

I recognized the mistake, immediately stopped writing


in this document, and did the bulk of the writing in
the mind map. I will do even better with this next
time. In fact, I wont even create a Word Doc until
AFTER I AM DONE WITH THE MIND MAP.

When I felt comfortable with what I had, I clicked File


> Export > Save as Web Pages and output the mind map to a
single HTML page. Then I copied and pasted it here and
WOW! what a difference.

So . . .

Take Your Outline From the Mind Map And Go!

Limit time

After getting clear, the most effective thing to do


next is to set a timer and give yourself a specific
amount of time to COMPLETE the project.

For example, I have written several reports recently in


72 minutes I give myself 72 and when 72 minutes are
up this its done at least the rough draft.

All main ideas should be in place.

72 minutes will force you to focus, to leave things out


that arent necessary. It will force you to get to the
point.

Its too easy to get distracted and stall out.

If you feel writers block, press on. Just keep


putting any idea on paper that comes out.

I also find places where I want to insert an image,


grab more information, look up a fact or reference
whatever.

Instead, just insert a note like {Insert image of notes}.


AFTER the writing is done and you move on to editing
you can deal with details.

Edit Later

Related to not stopping, improve, add and re-arrange


later. Editing stops the writing flow.

I probably spend too much time on editing.

Even though my rough drafts are usually pretty decent


editing is where I add details that make the end
product better. A great product is always the goal,
but the primary goal HERE is to get to the money
faster.

Like the writing process I recommend you put a time


limit on editing because if you don't "it" will never
be done.

You can always release a 2nd, 3rd, 4rth edition and


your paid customers aren't going to complain about a
continually improving product especially if youre
giving that improved product to them.

When editing I invariably find explanations that can be


improved by adding details, images, etc. Leave
granular details for the editing phase.

The remainder of this guide explains whats left to be done.

You will be receiving additional email messages with more ideas about how
and where to sell your product.

This is for 2 reasons (really 3):

1. Lets worry about creating a great product. You have nothing without
getting that job done, first.

2. I hate thieving bastards. Its not hard for a thieving bastard to share
this PDF, but when I deliver additional value through other channels
there is at least the satisfaction of knowing the thieving bastards only
have a part of the big picture.

3. Selling a product is only the beginning of the relationship you have


with your customers. You want to maintain their attention and
interest with you by continuing to deliver value. That also helps to
radically minimize refunds.

STEP FIVE: Sell It


It has to be said that you shouldnt create any product
without first having full confidence that you can sell
it.

When I say that I dont mean This is great, everyone


will love this thinking

I mean, you know EXACTLY where youre going to go sell


it, how youll sell, etc.

Ive been creating product since 1999 and that was my


biggest mistake in the early years creating product
without KNOWING who would buy it, and where.

But, IF youve done that work then selling is not as


difficult as people think people like to buy good
stuff they want.

Heres my approach -

Existing Lists

You may not have existing lists of prospects or


customers, but if you do thats the place to start for
four reasons

1. Fastest path to income

2. People who know you will be more forgiving of any


mistakes or issues with your sales process. Its
rare some unforeseen issue doesnt pop up

customers who dont know you are more likely to be


jaded and emotionally fragile they expect to get
shammed, they expect to have to fight to get things
righted for them.

Its best to have those bugs ironed out before


people who dont know you enter the picture.

3. People who know you will be more likely to provide


a solid testimonial, and spread the word if youve
produced another quality product.

4. People who know you will be most likely to buy


thats good but its also good for highlighting
potential conversion issues. If the people who
know you DONT BUY then people who dont know you
DEFINITELY WONT.

This leads us into where to direct our traffic to,


assuming you have some form of a list WHERE is this
going to be for sale?

You can send traffic to your site, or to a marketplace


and both have pluses and minuses -

Your site

Setup on your site is as simple as pasting your sales


letter onto a page and then adding an order button.

This should take no longer than 30-minutes and if this


happens to be a technically scary thing to you, hire
someone to do it for $20.

The best thing about sending traffic to your site is


that its home turf you get to make all the rules,
direct people where you want them, and they are your
captive audience.

Market

You can also send people to a market, such the Warrior


Special Offers Forum, Amazon, or any other place where
buyers AND sellers go to do business.

Is there a place where buyers and sellers already meet?


Thats where you want to be to profit as quickly as
possible.

Considerations

Directing your list


subscribers to your site
limits distraction and
defection.

I'll use the Warrior Special


Offer Forum (the WSOF) as an
example most readers will be familiar with.

I receive daily offers from a variety of people I've


purchased from in the past.

When I click a link, I go to the forum. My guess is


there's a 10% chance I buy the offer that's being
promoted.

That means there's a 90% chance I won't buy that offer


but I will do something NEXT.

My usual behaviors
Consider the offer, come back later
Leave the forum, don't consider the offer
Look at other offers on the forum
Do something else on the forum

Since I haven't tracked my behavior I can only make a


guess - but my guess is that at least 10% of the time I
buy an offer that wasn't the offer being promoted.

If Im on your list and you prompted me to go look at


an offer then I spent money as a result of YOU telling
me about something for sale in the market but YOU won't
get paid for it and I've entered someone else's funnel.

Maybe its true that everyone in the market experiences


the same loss, but also gains from this behavior . . .
but Im not completely at ease with that idea.

A strong argument can be made that you do want traffic


to go to your site, instead of sending that traffic
into a marketplace.

On the Flip Side

Sending people to a market can generate more awareness


and comments that can be used for testimonials.

You'll also have a healthy supply of jaded pricks to


point out every minute detail that could be failing in
your sales process or support systems.

And having it pointed out in a public forum will


probably REALLY motivate you to fix it fast.

STEP SIX: Repeat Process


When I was in the Air Force wed
get tasked with some BS duty in
basic training, like neatly
folding our underwear into 4-inch
squares and then organizing them
in a drawer.

The drill sergeant would come


along, inspect the work and if it
was good hed say Outstanding
airman. Now do it again! as he dumped the drawer
upside down on your bunk.

With that in mind, this isnt so bad I suppose


technically I got paid to fold my underwear, but there
wasnt much incentive to want to do it again.

In this case, you should have just made some money and
youve added some customers to your buyers list.

Momentum has been generated and its now critical to


keep moving, with the end goal of continuing to build
that final product.

And once youve completed your 5 or 6 or 10 reports


then youre ready to . . .

STEP SEVEN: Compile & Output


Final Product
Once you've completed your entire outline, put it
together into one product.

Edit, tweak, and add bonus items necessary to make it


all fit together and work.

The final versions of everything should be more


polished and with more detail than the original
reports. As youve gone you should have received real-
time, real-people feedback.

Answer the questions, in your work, that got asked but


not answered.

The original reports could be considered rough drafts -


works in progress that aren't finished, but that will
be improved by the buying audience, their questions,
complaints and feedback.

Now Get Excited

Let me tell you this Im excited.

Because after years of grasping at developing a system,


this is it this is the system.

Lets recap some highlights.

1. By consistently collecting and organizing


information as you go youll be in the constant
process of creating new material that can be output
FAST.

2. By developing a larger project with a modular


concept you can sell your materials as you go. You
dont need to wait any longer to get paid you can
get paid as you go.

3. By releasing your work as you go customer feedback


will help you to improve the end product.

4. By building a list, youre also building a


following to give you a foundation to launch the
full blown product from.

5. And hopefully, along the way, youre also adding


some affiliates and making some business
connections who will also be invaluable to getting
your product launched successfully.

And how a hypothetical look at how this plays out in a


spreadsheet for the math geeks, or people who like
money.

Im going to go conservative on these numbers but, of


course, results will vary and *if* your numbers dont
match, dont let that stop you (assuming they fall
short, but they could easily exceed these too).

Buyers = people who bought that specific report.

Cumulative buyers = total unique people whove bought.

In this example lets assume only 100 new buyers of


each report.

Repeat buyers = people whove purchased one of your


reports previous and they buy something else again.

Im assuming a 10% rate 10% who bought will buy


again.

Price = amount charged for report.

Profit = total income collected.

Ive been really conservative with these numbers.

100 sales to new customers isnt much neither is a


10% re-purchase rate. At the same time, if you dont
reach those numbers the first time, or the second,
dont allow that to discourage you just keep tweaking
your system.

And yet with just 100 sales weve still made $10,150
and added 1000 BUYERS to our list BEFORE weve launched
the product being developed.

What if 200 new people were added each time?

What if affiliates get involved?

What if the repeat buyer rate is 15%? . . . 20%? . . .


25%?

See, you have something to get excited about here


keeping in mind youre getting paid WHILE creating the
product you really want to create.

Because, remember, the ultimate goal is to put these


reports and/or videos into a package and sell that for
$67, $97, $197 or more.

That price point attracts a different level of


affiliate

To Open Your Thinking Further

This isnt a sales pitch for Mindjet Mind Manager or


Mindomo, but I do want you to understand the power of
mind mapping software. There are countless mind
mapping tools on the market and I encourage you to look
around, to find the tool that works for you.

Although you can make very solid money with reports


its important to keep in mind that reports are only a
gateway into your funnel.

may not be your best method of conveying information,
and it may not be the preferred method in your market
or niche.

As you can see, when Ive done the work of compiling my


information in the mind map then I now have the
following options

1. I can export the content as web pages and Mind


Manager will output a full blown web site with all
pages linked accordingly.

The downside is that were not talking about a


beautifully designed website thats ready to go for
most of us.

But on the flip side Mind Manager offers numerous


options that include creating a single page, in
outline form, a standard multi-page site, sites
that consist of all information in clickable image
form, or even a site that features a home page with
a clickable image map leading to pages with the
corresponding details.

You could take that basic framework and turn it


into a membership site.

2. As weve already covered, the information can be


output to a Word document and turned into a report,
or ebook.

3. The information can be turned into a PowerPoint


presentation. You could then share the information
stripped down a bit on slide share site, do a
webinar or series of webinars, or turn it into a
video product.

4. Mind Manager will also create an interactive .SWF


file (Flash) that can be added to any website or

blog creating an interactive experience for users.

5. If you really want to shortcut the writing


process, just output everything directly into a
PDF.

giving away a mind map with enough information to
be useful but holding back enough important details
that people who are really interested would be
happy to pay you.

7. I could go on and on with the ideas (there are


more) but the point is that by collecting,
organizing and writing your content in a ONE mind
map you have the ability to quickly and easily
create multiple products in a wide variety of
formats by doing the work only once.

8. No, I dont want to over simplify that you will


need to make adjustments to the final output but
you get the picture.

The first thing you should do is find a mind mapping
solution that works for you.

The second thing you should do is just pick a topic and


start adding ideas into the mind map. To me, the
