1. All questions are compulsory.
2. The question paper consists of 34 questions divided into four sections A, B, C and D.
Section - A comprises of 10 questions of 1 mark each, Section - B comprises of 8 questions of
2 marks each, Section - C comprises of 10 questions of 3 marks each and Section - D comprises
of 6 questions of 4 marks each.
3. Question numbers 1 to 10 in Section - A are multiple choice questions where you are to select
one correct option out of the given four.
4. There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 1 question of two
marks, 3 questions of three marks each and 2 questions of four marks each. You have to
attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

SECTION - A
Question numbers 1 to 10 carry 1 mark each.

14. In the figure, O is the centre of the circle. PA and PB are tangents to the circle from the
point P. Prove that AOBP is a cyclic quadrilateral.

Two concentric circles are of radii 10 cm and 8 cm. RP and RQ are tangents to the
two circles from R. If the length of RP is 24 cm, find the length of RQ.

15. The length of the minute hand of a clock is 7 cm. Find the area swept by the minute
hand from 6.00 pm to 6.10 pm.

16. Find the 12th term of the A.P. 2 , 3 2 , 5 2 , ............

17. Find the ratio in which the line segment joining the points A (3, 26) and B (5, 3) is
divided by xaxis.

18. Three cubes each of side 15 cm are joined end to end. Find the total surface area of the
resulting cuboid.

Question numbers 19 to 28 carry 3 marks each.
19. Draw a triangle ABC with side BC57 cm, B5458, and A51058. Then construct

another triangle whose sides are times the corresponding sides of DABC.

20. A box contains 17 cards numbered 1, 2, 3, ....... 16, 17. A card is drawn at random
from the box. Find the probability that the number on the drawn card is :
(a) odd
(b) even and prime
(c) divisible by 3

21. The sum of the first n terms of an A.P. is given by Sn53n22n. Determine the A.P. and
its 25th term.
OR
Find three numbers in A.P. whose sum is 15 and whose product is 105.

22. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend


supplementary angles at the centre of the circle.

23. Find the roots of the quadratic equation 2x229x1450.

24. A tree breaks due to storm and the broken part bends so that the top of the tree touches
the ground making an angle 308 with it. The distance between the foot of the tree to
the point where the top touches the ground is 8 m. Find the height of the tree.

25. An open container made up of a metal sheet is in the form of a frustum of a cone of
height 8 cm with radii of its lower and upper ends as 4 cm and 10 cm respectively.
Find the cost of the metal used, if it costs Rs. 5 per 100 cm2 (Use p53.14)

26. AB and CD are respectively arcs of two concentric circles of radii 21 cm and 7 cm and
centre O. If AOB5308, find the area of the shaded region.

27. Find the value(s) of x for which distance between the point P(2, 23) and Q(x, 5) is 10
units.

Find a relation between x and y such that the point P (x, y) is equidistant from the
points A (2, 5) and B(23, 7)

28. Find the area of a triangle ABC whose vertices are A(1, 21), B(24, 6) and C(23, 25)

SECTION - D
Question numbers 29 to 34 carry 4 marks each.
29. From a solid cylinder whose height is 8 cm and radius 6 cm, a conical cavity of height
8 cm and of base radius 6 cm, is hollowed out. Find the volume of the remaining solid.
(Take p53.1416). Also find the slant height of the cone.

30. A two digit number is such that the product of its digits is 12. When 36 is added to this
number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number.
OR

Two taps together can fill a tank in 9 hours. The tap of larger diameter takes 10

hours less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each
tap can separately fill the tank.

31. The houses of a row are numbered consecutively from 1 to 49. There is a value of x
such that the sum of the numbers of the houses preceding the house numbered x is
equal to the sum of the numbers of the houses following it. Find this value of x.

32. The angles of depression of the top and bottom of an 8 m tall building from the top of
a multi storeyed building are 308 and 458 respectively. Find the height of the multi
storeyed. building and the distance between the two buildings.

33. In the figure, ABC is a rightangled triangle, B5908, AB528 cm and BC521 cm.
With AC as diameter, a semicircle is drawn and with BC as radius a quarter circle is
drawn. Find the area of the shaded region.

OR
In the figure, OPQR is a rhombus, three of whose vertices lie on the circle with centre
O. If the area of the rhombus is 32 3 cm2, find the radius of the circle.

34. Prove that the tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through
the point of contact.
