Defining Your Route
The Route screen is the first screen you see when you access Navtech eCharts EFB.

Route Screen
The Route diagram (A) reflects a typical work flow. You can specify your DEP (departure) and
ARR (arrival) aerodromes and access their associated chart screens for quick access to specific
charts. Chart screen buttons are enabled when you enter a valid aerodrome code.
The Version and Revision Information (B) at the bottom of the page provides information
about the current data and the expected date of the next update.
The Menu button (C) gives access to the Document viewer.
Figure 13: Route screen

Specify Departure, Alternate and Arrival Aerodrome
To specify an aerodrome (AD), tap the field below the DEP (departure), ALTN (alternate), or ARR
(arrival) button.
The on-screen keyboard pops up automatically when you tap an entry field (A).
The on-screen keyboard is modified to speed up the entry of aerodrome and runway codes. Only
keys that are valid for the next character of the field are enabled. Partially entered codes trigger
the display of shortcut buttons for aerodromes (B) or runway (C) codes that fit the partial entry.
Entering a valid aerodrome code activates the button that accesses that chart screen. The Enroute
button is always active. It provides access to the Enroute map.

DEP Change Resets Application

Changing the departure Aerodrome (DEP) changes the assigned charts and documents. It resets
both the ARR and the ALTN codes and clears their associated charts. It also resets the Document
Viewer and the Enroute screen state (except for the last known map position). You must confirm
the departure Aerodrome change before you can specify the runway for the entry.

Consulting Terminal Charts
This section describes how to view charts in Chart screens. Chart screens display charts and
supporting information for the specific aerodrome entered on the Route screen.
Charts screens feature a chart viewer, a tile ribbon with five tiles where charts can be assigned for
quick access, and the menu button. Grey tiles have no charts assigned. To assign a tile, see Assign
a Chart to a User Tile on page 22.

View Charts
Tap the DEP, ARR, or ALTN button to access a chart from the Route screen. To change from the
current screen, tap the menu button and tap the Navtech eCharts EFB screen you want.
Route displays the Route screen (entry screen).
Enroute displays the Enroute map.
Arrival displays the ARR chart screen.
Departure displays the DEP chart screen.
Alternate displays the ALT chart screen.

Adjust a Chart Screen

For ARR and ALTN, tile assignments and per-chart viewing options are saved for the duration of
the flight. For example, you assign tiles and modify the viewing options for ARR-CYYZ charts and
then change the aerodrome to ARR-CYVR; if you change back to ARR-CYYZ, the tile assignments
and viewing options are recalled. Note that ALTN-CYYZ is independent of ARR-CYYZ.

Menu Button
The menu button provides options to adjust a chart screen for viewing conditions.
Invert toggles between day viewing and night viewing color schemes. Tap menu>Invert.
Pan If the chart is enlarged (zoom), touch and drag the chart to reposition it on the screen.
Rotate 90L / Rotate 90R (or arrow button on the toolbar) rotates the chart 90 degrees in the
selected direction. Rotating a zoomed map resets the chart to best fit view.
Zoom- pinch your fingers together to zoom in or apart to zoom out on the map or chart.

Note If you turn on the Quick Navigation toolbar the buttons to some custom documents,
supplement chart information along with the rotate and invert buttons are
unavailable from the Menu button. These documents and information are available
through the Quick Navigation toolbar. See Settings on page 12 for information on
how to turn features on or off. See Quick Navigation Toolbar on page 15 for more
information on the toolbar.

Chart Details
Displayed charts include an explicit With Effectivity From date (WEF). If a chart does not have
a WEF date, the charts implicit effective date is Monday midnight UTC of its revision week.

Default Charts
Your chart administrator specifies default charts for an aerodrome. Default charts defined by your
chart administrator for the route identified on the Route screen are initially assigned the Chart
screen ribbon tiles. You can assign a different chart.

Assign a Chart
For ARR and ALTN, tile assignments and per-chart viewing options are saved for the duration of
the flight. For example, you assign tiles and modify the viewing options for ARR-CYYZ charts and
then change the aerodrome to ARR-CYVR; if you change back to ARR-CYYZ, the tile assignments
and viewing options are recalled. Note that ALTN-CYYZ is independent of ARR-CYYZ.
Tile categories determine which charts are available for assignment to a tile. Preset categories
cannot be changed.
DEP preset categories are: ARPT, SID, APPR
ARR/ALTN preset categories are: ARPT, STAR, APPR
